One of the okay Lupin III films, Blood Seal Eternal Mermaid features Lupin and his gang trying to uncover the secrets surrounding some mermaid pearls they have stolen and crossing paths with the crooked business owner of a medical supply company. The anime features a side-plot with Lupin being pestered by a young girl to be an apprentice thief under him that does have some relevance to the TV special's ongoing plot and all of Lupin's gang have their roles to fulfill here, unlike many TV specials and movies where some of the leads get lost in the shuffle. The main villain is your standard power-hungry and crazed loon, though his character has some savvyness to pick up on some of the actions of Lupin and his gang. Otherwise, the TV special is your standard Lupin TV special or movie in terms of plot structure and character quirks. While it does nothing new with the Lupin III plot formula, it is still a decent entry in the franchise to have an evening watch with.
