Yu Ayase is the son of the late world famous actress Subaru Ayase, so when he enrolled in prestigious Saika Academy it was assumed that he, too, would be a prodigy. But there's nothing at all special about his talents, they are, if anything, mediocre. The 'Three Royals'--three extraordinarily talented girls who dominate the three departments of the academy, Kazuki (Performing Arts), Miwa (Advanced Programs) and Niko (Athletics) are especially dismayed with Yu. Later, Yu locates the elaborate house that he is being allowed to stay in by the absent Mr. Mikadono, and finds that he won't have it to himself. He'll be sharing it with Mr. Mikadono's three daughters, who he has met recently.

Mikadono San Shimai wa Angai, Choroi
(One episode watched):
Based on his hairstyle I thought at first that red-haired Yu was a girl himself. We learn how Yu's relationship with his famous mother (Mr. Mikadono's friend and benefactor) was not close, but her last wish was that he become part of a happy family someday. And he gets the idea that he will basically become a sibling to the three Mikadono Sisters--I guess this is not all that unusual in Japanese culture. They look down on this totally ordinary guy but they have one weakness themselves--they are slobs--which Yu might come in handy to fix. Yu may not be a prodigy, like them, but he isn't an idiot; he occasionally makes semi-clever remarks ("Prodigies are so self-centered that they are blind to everything else"). Character designs (or at least facial expressions) are pretty good. At the end of the episode Mr. Mikadono calls Yu and makes the weighty request that he be his daughter's 'helping hand' as they encounter the inevitable problems of prodigies; this ought to lead them to 'open up' to him. But I found that I could think of very few things to say about the general quality of this show. Nothing had caught my attention. On second thought, I guess that's because none of the jokes made me LOL, so it didn't work very well as a comedy. And it didn't leave me with any questions I wanted answers to as a drama. About the only diference between the three sisters is the field they are a prodigy in and their hair color. And Yu doesn't intrigue me either; his most crucial trait is how ordinary he is. So, I was never excited by this show and will probably pass.
