Rishe Irmgard Weitzer's life is stuck in a loop. Each loop begins with the moment when she is publicly humiliated by Crown Prince Dietrich announcing that he has annuled his engagement to her on trumped-up charges. The loop lasts for five years, after which a war is started by Emperor Arnold Hein of Galhein, and in one way or another Rishe is killed. In the sixth loop Rishe had pretended to be a man and joined the army, only to be killed by Emperor Hein himself. Rishe has actually enjoyed these resets to a certain extent, as they allow her to explore all sorts of different possibilities that most people never will. But she vows that in this seventh life she will live to a ripe old age. And that might be possible after she encounters a younger Arnold Hein, who proposes to marry her. |
