Quite the entertaining little movie, Dead or Alive features Lupin and his gang in all their glory here as they try snagging treasure on a remote island protected by deadly nanomachines and found in a country running under a dictatorship. Fujiko, Jigen and Goemon all get their little roles to play here in this film and Zenigata pops in for some comic relief in trying to capture Lupin, especially with some of the serious scenes that take place involving the corrupt dictator Headhunter who makes for quite the intimidating and merciless villain. The movie format for Dead or Alive allows for better quality animation which definitely shows in the better polished character designs and more fluid animation you can find in the movie's action scenes, especially when Lupin and his group are dealing with the nanomachines on the island. The only major complaint I can make about Dead or Alive is it doesn't do much new with the Lupin III plot formula that seasoned fans may already be familiar with through Lupin's antics and his encounters with different villains in various global locations. Still though, this is a solid and entertaining 90 minute-plus Lupin III film that is well worth the time to check out if you are a fan of the series franchise.

I've seen this movie, but I don't know why I never wrote a review for it. I'll have to rewatch it before writing a full review.
