Lupin III franchise, Jigen's Gravestone retains the artwork style and darker edge found from The Woman Called Fujiko Mine as Lupin and Jigen cross paths with a sniper hired to kill off the latter. While the presentation allows this movie to stick out from many typical spins on the franchise that adapt the second series takes on Lupin characters, the movie's plot mostly plays out no different from a typical Lupin movie or TV special as the two partners find themselves challenged by the sniper at first until they figure out his gimmick and easily overcome it. On the plus side, Fujiko has a role to fulfill as she unintentionally comes across the reason for why Jigen is being targeted. Plus, Goemon and Zenigata only get cameos in this film, which is better than just tossing them in the movie with no direction as many Lupin movies and TV specials have a bad habit of doing. Despite the window dressing that this movie has with using the mood and presentation of Woman Called Fujiko Mine, Jigen's Gravestone does not really do much new with the Lupin III plot formula compared to the radical take that the mentioned TV series did. Still, it is a decent time-killer and worth a weekend rental at the very least.
