As the 12th movie made for DBZ, Fusion Reborn's place in the series timeline is set sometime during the Majin Buu saga in spite of a number of contradictions that the movie's plot has for a number of the characters with their abilities and their present locations during said events. While existing only to cash-in on DBZ's popularity as its earlier films and milking a number of the typical shounen anime film cliches, the plot set up from Janemba's antics does contribute some effective moments of comedy with Pikkon reluctantly breaking character to deal with the problems in the afterlife, Gohan making quick work of a revived Frieza and Gohan and Trunks getting fun out of wrecking armies of tanks led by a dictator obviously made as a politically incorrect caricature of Hitler. While it's not saying much considering the movie's obvious ties, Fusion Reborn is still one of the better DBZ movies that Toei whipped out thanks to the comedy it creates from its movie-only plot.
