Like the prior two movies, Mystical Adventure is an alternate take on an arc from the Dragon Ball TV anime. In this case, Mystical Adventure combines the key points of the Red Ribbon Army and 22nd Budokai sagas in a 45-minute film with a new plot portraying Chaotzu as a young emperor, Tien his loyal guardian, and Tao Pie Pie and Crane Master being the scheming opportunists. Like the first DB movie, this makes the storytelling of the film sloppy thanks to the rushed pacing it undergoes as the suspenseful, dramatic and comical moments from those arcs are lost thanks to how quickly they are breezed through. The visuals to this aren't much different from the second movie in terms of quality meaning that artwork is up a notch from the TV anime, but animation still cuts corners. Pretty much, this is only worth a look if you're a diehard Dragon Ball fan.
