Perhaps the weakest entry in the Lupin III franchise I've seen to date. While Lupin does resort to toon physics to an extent with the thief's silly antics, this movie goes way too overboard with exploiting them here with a number of the ways Lupin deals with a mafia group's efforts to prevent him from snagging up Babylonian treasure. The thief's theft in this movie is also perhaps the most "out there" I've seen from the franchise thus far as well when he tries locating the whereabouts of Tower of Babel in New York City and it involves aliens. A few silly scenes involving Lupin and Zenigata such as their chase outside a Halloween party at the start of the movie and Lupin dealing with Zenigata and a group of beauty contestants chasing him in tanks save this from being a complete waste of time for me. Otherwise if you're a Lupin fan, I wouldn't recommend trying to track this movie down.

Avoid AstroNerdBoy [series:294#436]

This is another of the "miss" titles in the Lupin III franchise. Part of what makes Lupin fun is the looniness and the way we can overcome certain things to accept the unacceptable. Thus the "Lupin Physics" don't bother us, nor does Goemon's ability to cut anything (including lightning), nor does Jigen's abiltiy to shoot anything. However, this title begs us to believe the stupidest things...like the Tower of Babel is in New York, or rather under New York City. Yeah, I believe that. And then to make it worse, aliens are thrown into the mix to explain why all this gold is in New York.

Since it has been a long time since I've viewed the title (it was so bad, I forgot to review it apparently), I can't go into a lot more details. However, I do remember it being down at the bottom of the Lupin titles, thus to be avoided.

Bottom line: even if you are a die-hard Lupin fan, just avoid this one.

I was wondering why many of the reviewers here have a bug up their ass about Lupin movies. Now I know. This is utter crap.
Now, don't get me wrong, Lupin and his crew are still some of my favorite anime characters... but this is just shit. Methinks Lupin's producers in the 80's were looking to make as much money as they could without going through the arduous process of actually making a decent film. For shame.
This movie looks bad, sounds bad, is bad. Don't bother with it. Watch the Castle of Cagliostro instead. It's almost ten years older, but still a thousand times better than this tripe.
