Lupin III anime with Lupin being one step ahead of his opposition and enjoying his thievery, having its fair share of slapstick thanks to Lupin's antics, and making occasional nods to past installments of the franchise like the character designs for the series being similar to how characters are depicted from Castle of Cagliostro and Lupin eventually donning his green jacket attire from the first TV anime. Essentially, Lupin III fans should feel at home watching this unique angle on the decades-long franchise exploring the titular thief in his youth.

From my understanding, Lupin Zero is based on some chapters of the original manga series from Monkey Punch exploring Lupin and Jigen's time as teens in the 1960s before becoming professional thieves. This offers some interesting story exploration with an ongoing development being whether Lupin chooses to live a normal lives or follow in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, as he gets dragged into some predicaments spurred on by the both of them. But the thrills of being a thief still lead Lupin to blur the lines of what he wants until he eventually makes his inevitable decision by the end of this ONA. Lupin Zero still retains the typical elements of a ||||||||
