Tanaka Tetsuro is excited at getting a full scholarship at a new high school, far away from his family. What he does not know is that he will be the only boy in an all girl school, and that there is a girl head-over-heels in love with him, waiting for his arrival. But his special friendship with the very cute and dynamic Asuka also causes him to get into a lot of trouble with the powerful student council leadership, as they are at open war with Asuka and her five friends - a group of super amazon warriors called the Koi Koi Seven.

A "middle-of-the-road" story of a boy and his android group of friends...

This title is a tough one indeed. Many episodes had a "crap feel" to them but just as many had a "great feel" to them while the rest were in the middle. I had many mixed feelings about the whole thing to be honest with you and sadly enough, I don't feel like writing about them for this title but i'll try my best to endure...

Like the first line in this review points out, this title has a "middle of the road" approach to it. Almost like a seesaw, you would see a stupid episode followed by a great one and the consistency was up in the air for the entire 13 eps. I don't know if I would tell anyone about this title due to the constant shifting of quality between the eps. When the story got serious, it was exellent but when the story played around, it was nothing but a really boring ecchi fest (episodes 3, 6, 10, and 11). The rest of the eps (1, 2, 7, 9, and 13) were just fair ones. Normally, I would be fine with just the ecchi content but this title was so bland that by the end, I just stopped caring and wanted it to be over! Don't misunderstand me though. Like I said, this title had it's shining moments as well. Episodes 4, 5, 8, and 12 were great. Four out of 13 is still a failing grade but I would say this title deserves extra credit points. Instead of just a meaningless ecchi fest, the viewer would get a story that can actually be entertaining at times and might want to look foward to the next episode.

This title has to be seen in order to decide if it is truly a watch or an outright avoid. For me personally, it's an avoid but I can't give it that rating because every title deserves to be seen at least once and that fact is especially true with this title. Most people will probably say I gave this title too much thought (and I would agree with them) so let me wrap this up with the "hardcore nagatives" of this title.

Bad romance: The story never went into detail of why one of the female leads was madly in love with the main male lead. Not once did the story touch on it, the viewer is just lead to believe that that's the way it is and not to question it. There was like one scene of them when they were little but that was it. I hated not knowing why she loved him so much as she was the first person to jump on him and nobody else was allowed to get close (there was 3 different choices I picked out for him that would've been interesting if they were to play out - Otome, Miyabi, and the dark Asuka). Really a waste on the whole romance idea...

No backstory: The story didn't even try to give a reason for the six Koikoi 7 (?) members. It poked at one backstory but never went into detail! This case was one of my favorite girls, Miyabi. They showed a scene where it looked like she used to slit her wrists with blood soaking the floor. All the viewer gets is the scene with no explanation at all! Why did they bother showing it if they never intended to mention anything about it in the first place. Ridiculous waste of a great story-telling opportunity...

No real ending: The final ep was like an episode 14 of the series instead of the intended episode 13 (like the OVA-style ecchi episode). I don't even need to write about it as it still confuses the hell out of me. As per my understanding, there are two omakes/OVAs of this series, one is the real ending and the other is a funny "self-parodying blooper segment". As anyone can expect of hidden episodes, searching the web will only result in frustratation and I didn't care to see them since I quit on the series a long time ago so it didn't matter to me if I saw them or not (though I would be grateful if anyone knew where I could find them).

All in all, I wanted it to end and when it did, I was severely relieved. Nothing in the world could make me want to run away from my computer as fast as I did after watching this title (LOL). And there you have it folks...

Take a look at Hanaukyo Maid Tai (award winner), Love Love?, or Amaenaideyo!! for some other "ecchi-fests" that actually still pass along a respectable story to follow which were all better than this title to say the least.

Never forget Xenosaga.

Rent Stretch [series:1038#628]
(All episodes watched):

I started watching Koikoi 7 several years ago, but only part of the series had been fansubbed and it went into hiatus. At last, the remainder is available and I've begun rewatching it (from the very start, since it's been so long). This one holds a fond place in my heart largely because it's so shamelessly risque; what Tesuro sees in the nurse's office in episode one made me exclaim "OMG"! This is one of those jaw-dropping shows that is fun largely because you'd never see anything so politically incorrect in this country. The quality of individual episodes varies wildly as they parody different anime genres; sometimes they are boring, sometimes hilarious. Tetsuro reminds me of Suguru from Mahoromatic while Asuka is a lot like Kurumi from Koutetsu Tenshi Kurumi, and "eyepatch girl" (Celonius 28) is clearly a Rei-clone. The colors are grating; I suspect there are six members of the KoiKoi 7 because there are three primary colors and three secondary ones, just enough for their identifying hairstyles. Originally I disliked the raucous OP song, but now it's growing on me. What really disappointed me is the fact that there is never a real end to the story. Episode twelve ends with a crisis apparently approaching, but in episode thirteen things are pretty much back to normal--I thought I had missed an episode somehow. Mia-sama, who I had come to sympathize with, never learns her special friend Tetsuko's secret, nor do we learn how the six girls wound up as cyborgs. There is, however, a brief omake segment, entitled "Koi Koi 7 Special Reflection". This roughly three minute piece (see episode 14) is like an extended trailer for the final episode which I thought we'd be getting. Better than nothing, certainly (hilarious, actually), but I still can't help feeling disappointed with the overall conclusion. Still, KoiKoi 7 as a whole will always bring a smile to my face whenever I think about it.

A crazy, shameless, jaw-dropping show--if only it had had a better ending

If you are looking for a plot, this isn't the place. It's mostly parody.

Ok well you got me hooked. It isn't the best anime or the funniest but it parodies Maburaho my favorite series! It also parodies Gundam Seed, Steel Angel Kurumi, Project A-Ko, Ikki Tousen, and Martian Successor Nadesico.

So who can't watch it? First episode is almost exclusively dedicated to Maburaho and Gundam. It funny but not extremely so, I'll keep watching it for a while.

Favorite Line : There are only 6 of us, be we are called the KoiKoi 7!

So far the storyline is introducing each of the Characters and tons of fanservice.

Edit : Episode 4 turns down the fanservice (But still has plenty) and adds a STORY OMG! hehe.
Edit : Episode 5 TURNS UP THE FANSERVICE and Gives a Story. So we are finally finding out what the KK7 are up to.

Watch Jan-Chan [series:1038#967]
Who really needs a plot if you have a loads of fan service and echii shots, along with lots of mondo teen-girl mecha and big weapons action? And it does get thrown about in a fast and furious manner! The Student Council Leadership are rich enough to afford combat helicopters and over-hyped big-mecha-robots, while the six girls of Asuka's Koi Koi Seven group are a mixed batch of teenage amazon super-warriors, each with a special skill or ability.

The innocent Tetsuro quickly becomes a pawn in the struggle between the two girl-gangs, but Asuka is very protective of her Tetsuro and she is very clear on her lewd and possessively intimate intentions keeping him close to her.

This series is worth a watch, perhaps a rent if you like gratuitous amounts of school girl panty scenes. I found a few chuckles in the parody scenes, which are cute and fun, but are not really worth mentioning.
