the Christmas special. Keitaro's character development drops quite a bit as he once again runs away from Hinata Inn after thinking he disappointed everyone again. The entire storyline centers on Keitaro trying to help a girl named Nyamo find a lost turtle civilization. The problem with doing it here in the special is that it doesn't really lead to anything major and everything seemed like an excuse just to have this special. And don't get me started on the return of fan service in this OAV. It takes a big departure from the TV series as situations appear set up just to see some skin from the female characters such as the infamous leaf bikini wore by Naru throughout the second half of the OAV. The only thing that keeps me from giving this special an Avoid rating is the ending to the series when everyone is finally together again and viewers finally learn if Keitaro makes it into Toudai. Even so, the ending gets hampered a bit since the Naru/ Keitaro relationship is still left unresolved until Love Hina Again. The animation and music of the series are nothing new as animation from the TV series is retained and from what I remember seeing from it, most of the musical tracks seem to have been taken from the TV series. Only watch this special once to continue watching the development of Love Hina's storyline. After seeing this and Love Hina Again a few times, I haven't seen them since and I will only watch the TV series and Christmas special since they had all that I wanted from the series, even without a resolution to the Naru/ Keitaro relationship. I dunno why people are down on this OVA, it is what it is...Naru and Keitaro finally got into Tokyo U when they didn't think so...We got to enjoy the gang in a different setting other than the Hina Inn and surrounding areas...Naru sported a Leaf Bikini...and We got to see Mecha Tama 3...All Cool stuff...I really enjoyed this and continue to not be dissapointed with the any Love Hina releases...

Comedy : High Action : Med SciFi : Low Ecchi : Med Gah the worst of the Love Hina Series. They should've kept all the ecchi of the Manga (Since this was an OVA) but they didn't and chopped up the series a bit. Watch this after Christmas special so you don't get lost, but doesn't really expect to learn ANYTHING except for the end. There are only 2 things worth Watching on this disk: The 'Everytime you go away' song which is very well done in both Japanese and English and the last scene in the credits (No Spoilers, you can FF to the end for it). Then go back and watch the Christmas special again. That is 100 times better than this. Note : When Kitsune kidnaps Ken Akamatsu in this episode look at his boat CLOSELY. Those 2 people on the side are not Kentaro/Naru. It's Saati and the dude from AI Love You manga. Akamatsu likes to put his first manga into the Love Hina series anime. Well this is quite a shocker....i have 2 say that love hina is one of my favorite anime shows but i think that they did a bad job in the making of this movie. First Keitaro change his dream so fast....i mean come on its his dream that he had for so long and in just a couple of mins he change his mind. Also this happens to be the end of love hina that dosen't end it and leaves u saying what the... but good thing that there is love hina again or the hole series would of been screwed||||||||

Oh yeah, I am with you, reviewers. This one disappointed me a lot. How could the characters that we came to adore so much during episode 21-24 and the Christmas Special become so dull all of a sudden? Why did they lose their focus so much? One might have accepted this to happen after getting into Toudai (because 'happiness' might turn out to be underspecified ... ;-), but why before? This one is the last one of the less valuable episodes of Love Hina; prepare to watch Love Hina Again to get back on track for the real deal. Last updated Friday, June 06 2008. At Hinata Sou, the girl are quite shocked to see that Keitaro as departed. As Naru heard the news, she parts to search for Keitaro with the help of the young lad Kentaro. Basically, the story is quite dull...Keitaro wants to make the main goal of another girl he finds on the isle...true. Later on, he finds Naru and she also wants to help that girl get what she wants. In the end, all of Hinata Sou's ladies came after them and everything is going to get fine once more after a crazy irrealist adventure. You might wanna see this but I guess you need to watch it only once... Last updated Sunday, April 27 2003. Created Sunday, April 27 2003. |
This movie was quite sad to see...meaning a little bit boring. It's the story of Keitaro who is desperate to enter Todai and tries to give up as he wants to go across the ocean or something. He finds himself with Seta who is in the same boat as him.||||||||

Love Hina series and LOVED it. Everything was cool about it, but when I watched this it almost depressed me. It starts out okay, but you suddenly realize there's not much to it. It's like a long, bad filler episode that just so happens to be the ending (close enough, anyway) of a great series. The sad thing is it didn't even really end. Another thing, sometimes the animation looked kind of strange. It didn't bother me like where it does in some other series where they change it, but it was still there like "Hey! That looks a little odd..." I really don't mean to be so harsh about it, I think if you like the series you should watch it just for the ending credits. That made it worth it. This is the second Love Hina TV Special and I'm sad to say that it isn't very good. In the end I did purchase it to include it in my collection (to have all of the Love Hina DVD's. So where does this title fail? Simple -- the story. Yeah, we have the whole gang back, but while the Christmas special dealt strongly with the romance between Naru and Keitaro, this one focuses on a hideous turtle civilization and a young girl's attempt to find her grandfather. I know this story had an important role in the manga, but it was cut short in the anime, plus the focus was all wrong and ended up saying nothing. Had the writers done the story as the manga had, it would have been better. Further. this OAV is filled with a lot of music interludes because 45-minutes is a lot of time to fill when you have no story to tell. The songs were just the worst and made me cringe badly! This movie makes a marked departure (the first being episode 25 of Love Hina) into the evil realms of fan-service. There's quite a lot of fan service in this movie over the rest of the series or the Love Hina Christmas Special. I hate fan service! Ugh! OK, it isn't still as ecchi as the manga but while the manga can get away with fanservice AND tell a story, the TV special gives up story for fanservice. The one item of note that I liked happens during the credits. Sweet Shinobu-chan asks Narusegawa to say whether or not she loves Keitaro. A confession to the young (and smitten with Keitaro) Shinobu-chan isn't what we wanted. We want Keitaro and Narusegawa to get together and tell each other "I love you". But because so much time was wasted in this special, this is all we get. Ugh! Bottom line: I rewatched this and it didn't improve my opinion. This is still only worth a watch.Last updated Saturday, August 13 2005. Created Monday, December 16 2002. |
