This Digimon movie is set one year following the events of the first Adventure series as the Digidestined children have to deal with a rogue virus Digimon called Diaboromon that is wrecking havoc online. The premise for this one might have some anime fans comparing it to Summer Wars and that is because both films are directed by the same director, Mamoru Hosoda. The premise and tone for the film is pretty similar to Summer Wars, carrying similar effective mix of comedy and drama as Taichi and Koshiro try doing what they can to curb Diaboromon's threat while having trouble contacting the other Digidestined and Diaboromon being a dangerous prankster virus in the same vain that Love Machine served in Summer Wars. The visuals for this film have a bit more polish to them than the TV anime with more detailed scenic shots and fluid movement during action sequences, though character designs are a bit rough and unpolished compared to the TV anime. Still, Our War Game made for decent entertainment within its runtime and is worth watching if you are a Digimon fan, provided you track down the original version of the movie and not the mashed-together mess done for the American Digimon movie.
