Keita has two step-sisters who love him in a lustful way and have no problems expressing it, even going so far as to have daily, public competitions for his affections. Because of their obvious feelings, Keita is mocked by his friends, to the point where one day he gets fed up and explodes at them in school. However, this has an unexpected effect: the pair confess their feelings for him in front of everyone and leave. Feeling sorry about hurting their feelings, he chases after them and promises that he'll study hard in order to get in the same high school as them.

Avoid 7 6 7 5 3 3 Ggultra2764 [series:2279#1552]
It's garbage like Kiss x Sis that makes me dread sharing fandom in anime with the Japanese otaku fan base getting their kinks off the near-hentai levels of ecchi content that titles like Kiss x Sis fester with. This series makes incest into something acceptable for those in Keita's everyday life by using the "we're not blood-related, so it's okay" plot device considering his parents have no problem with their twin daughters' sexually molesting him every chance they get and Keita's horny classmates jealous at the fact he seemingly gets to engage in lewd activity with them. The series starts off tame in the delivery of its ecchi content until some later episodes push the envelope to near-hentai levels featuring much of the typical garbage you can expect from ecchi titles such as innuendo with food, suggestive positioning of characters, panty shots galore and even certain bodily fluids coming into play. Overall, Kiss x Sis is just another mindless diversion to get fans of ecchi titles gawking over cute female characters in perverted predicaments to satisfy the libido of their viewers.

Avoid 7 5 5 6 4 2 Devil Doll [series:2279#752]
[Score: 49% = "Avoid"]

Unlike the OVA, this one is watchable up to episode 4 but episodes 5, 7 and 8 are crossing the line once again. Compared to the OVA, the TV series has
  • more focus on character relation development (and thus a story closer to the manga)
  • all manga characters introduced in parallel, foreshadowing the forthcoming competition
  • more emotions (in episode 4) and more flashbacks to childhood times
Art is okay, Animation is surprisingly weak with many stills, Music is hardly noticeable.

The reason why I tried to watch this show in the first place is that the characters are not as annoying as in Girls Bravo, this series doesn't rely on animals like Kanokon or weird aliens like To LOVE-Ru. Unfortunately this show makes ugly fetishes its core subject which completely kills the fun for me and cost this show the "Watch" rating. This is no Ichigo 100% TV, unfortunately.

Still, Xenoknight's review made me watch the rest now in order to get at least what I was hoping for, which is a bit of story. And indeed episodes 10+11 are actually watchable, almost without ecchi content and even with some emotions (such as the hug). But it's not enough to give up the warning about the almost hentai content of the middle part which my "Avoid" rating is meant to express.

This anime only covers Keita's attempt to get into the same school as his sisters while the manga goes way beyond that... can this show even get a sequel? This would be telling about its commercial success, and the way mainstream anime content has changed in recent years.

One boy and his pair of lustful sisters face the trials of school life while partaking in sinful pleasures...

"Not even if you paid me!" This is the first thought that entered my mind after viewing the final moments of Kiss×sis (TV). If I were asked to rewatch this series under any form of financial agreement, I would laugh hysterically and decline. This reboot of the original OVA is without a doubt "among the biggest piles of nothing" to ever enter the anime viewing world. Offering only one general theme and bringing nothing else to the table, I've experienced one boring episode after another with minute laughs, weak ecchi content (compared to the original), and a horrible attempt at character development. How can the powers that be ever believe this to be a recipe for success? My words are not enough to degrade this title as much as it deserves.

The theme for this title is all about Ako and Riko trying to get Keita (more or less) prepared for his exams. If successful, he would join them in the same high school. The sisters tried multiple methods from test questions written all over Ako's naked body to Riko rewarding/seducing Keita with chocolate lipstick. This was the whole season in a nutshell. Add some weak supporting characters (the teacher/sister combo was a waste of time), pathetic story progression (one theme for all 12 eps), and watered down ecchi material; and you have a recipe for disaster if you ask me. They should have increased the development for the characters if the ecchi content wasn't possible for 12 straight episodes. That would've been understandable. The only thing worth mentioning is what transpired during episode 9 and thereafter. Ep nine was rather generous in it's dealings with the closest "hentai-crossing" scene one could wish for. After that, things took a more emotional turn as his test grades came in and the spiral of thoughts involved with success and failure rolled about. The closure was certainly there, but it's the "journey" that was more important to me than anything else and that is where this title failed.

The specs are all as expected for a standard 2010 anime title. Art/design/music all came across to me as clean and well done with vivacious colors and fluid animation (ecchi wise primarily). The music more so than anything else is worth mentioning as the intro and end-credits always put me in the right viewing mood for this title with upbeat, pleasant, and spirit-lifting rhythms. The end-credit song - "Our Steady Boy" by YuiKaori - is a song to smile about. An overall presentation not worthy of an anime of this caliber.

In summation, I initially believed this reboot to be the best thing for Kissxsis for several reasons: more ecchi content to please the fans, better character development for more emotional attachment, and sheer anime length of the standard 12 TV eps just for the C.A. factor. For some odd reason though, none of these were achieved during most of the series until episode 9. That leaves only 4 episodes worth their own weight for the entire series. 4 out of 12 is still a failing grade. Fans of the OVA may want to watch this for completion/C.A. factor purposes. Those who didn't watch the OVA should avoid this at all costs! The best way I can see to remedy this rip-off is with watching the original OVA again to refresh your reasons for liking Kissxsis in the first place. If new ecchi school related ventures are calling out to you however, then I will suggest Aki-Sora (incest with quality over quantity) or Kanokon (full on ecchi madness). If some action is preferable, then try Rosario + Vampire. Watching any of these titles will "polish your man card" if you know what I mean.

Regardless of the opinions for this reboot, the fan base for Kissxsis is still insanely strong...

Unevaluated Stretch [series:2279#628]
(One episode watched):

After being traumatized by the lewd and obnoxious OVAs I didn't intend to watch this TV version, but the lively arguments at ANN persuaded me to give it a look. Actually, this version seems to be relatively tame in comparison to the OVAs (in which the sisters behave like little more than whores), but only because it devolves to the usual lame teenage sex gags which we've already seen time after time in various shows. All things considered, this seemed pretty dull to me and not worth the time needed to watch it.
