Standard onsen nonsense shamelessly capitalizing on the popularity of the Shana characters. If you miss this, you won't have missed much.

Having seen Shakugan no Shana and enjoyed it, there was no doubt that I would catch the OAV when I got the chance. Too bad it wasn't all that.

It has been a while since I saw the TV series, so I'd forgotten about Ogata-san and her crush on fellow classmate Tanaka (whom you will remember ends up serving Margery Daw). So while we get a bit of Shana and Yoshida-san bicker, the main point of this OAV is Ogata-san's attempts to make it a special time for her and Tanaka. The humor comes from her imagining him with his best friend Satou (who also ends up serving Margery Daw in the TV series).

The actual onsen aspect is typical anime onsen trip fare. Everything happens pretty much as one might expect, making it rather boring and pointless beyond seeing the various characters from the school again.

Bottom line: its a toss between Rent and Watch, but I sided for "Rent" because I did get a few chuckles out of it. Otherwise, it is pretty predictable if you've seen many anime titles with onsen episodes.

Watch Jan-Chan [series:1440#967]
Hummm. Why do I get the impression that the production company that released Shakugan no Shana decided to return to the feeding trough and milk some more money from their fans by releasing an absolutely frivolous and irrelevant single episode OVA?

Using the premise of a school outing to an onsen (a hotel/hotspring), Yuuji finds himself precariously caught between the attentions of Shana and Yoshida. Oga-chan makes a personal resolve to get closer to Tanaka (her secret love), but somehow everything gets really mixed up when Tanaka & Satou race up the temple stairs (that are rumored to be the marriage stairs.) So, are they a couple? And does Oga-chan have a rival for Tanaka's attentions.

And then some of the boys decide to peek in on the girl's side of the hot springs…..

Lots of silly situations and fanservice, but on the whole - very empty – and not worth more than a watch rating.

I was very disappointed.
