While Sawanaga is dreaming of receiving his first Valentine chocolate ever, a number of girls is more than eager to give their chocolate to Makoto. These gifts come in all shapes and sizes, and of course each of these girls wants to be the only one to achieve her goal.
Just what would this have to do with an onsen prelude, a chainsaw, tentacles, several knifes, two roaring lions and the Statue of Liberty? See for yourself in this parody special episode!

An 18min OVA titled "Valentine Days" bundled with the limited edition DVD release of School Days, the (12ep) TV series.

Reported as being 'released' on Jan 17 '08.

After watching the TV series, I was too sick to really enjoy this OVA. I'm sure it was intended to be funny, but I couldn't crack a smile.

I couldn't stand seeing the main lead's face again so i was really turned away by this OVA. Watch it if you must as its only 18 minutes but take some time if you're just coming off the TV sereis. That way it might be funny later on.

Never forget Xenosaga.

[Score: 77% = "Rent", 3 points better than the TV series]

This was a nice variation of the scenario (given that dreadful end of the series) with the characters being compatible to the original for a while and then going the slapstick path.

Lots of little elements of this story (like Makoto's inability to choose, certain "tools" and Kotonoha's mood while preparing the hand-made chocolate whose ingredients gave me a good laugh) indicate that the audience should have seen the complete series before - this isn't just some episode you could insert at any particular position in the time-line, it's more like a parody of the series with its over the top comedy/action when Makoto is being chased by the girls (including two quite surprising "contenders"). And as such it would totally not fit to the rest of the series during the first pass.

Think of this OVA as being for School Days (TV) what Ichigo 100% OVA 5 was for Ichigo 100% TV - a weird but funny alternate reality approach. Not exactly outstanding but very nice.

Rent Stretch [series:1770#628]
Well, this OVA didn't have me rolling on the floor, but it was amusing anyhow. On the one hand, it seems to take place before all the bitterness and suspicion develops, and could easily be inserted into the TV series as an additional episode fairly early on. On the other hand a joke about a certain character seemingly threatening Makoto with a knife makes me wonder if viewers aren't expected to have already watched the TV series in it's entirety (but if that were the case, would anybody be in the mood for a silly episode like this?). I had originally confused this OVA with the upcoming one in which Kotonoha's little sister will supposedly tell the story, but I see now that it is completely different.

Perhaps the best thing out of School Days. The timeline for this OVA seems to take place before the start of the series since Makoto hasn't started dating Kotonoha yet by the looks of things.

The highlight of all this is clearly the second half. It's hysterical seeing the reactions of Makoto running from his admirers and the admirers in an angry rampage trying to "give" Makoto his chocolates. Sakai's mother appears in the anime for the first time here and you'll be laughing senseless as to why she's here. And you'll definitely be rolling around in laughter over the ending to this OAV.

Overall, this is worth checking out a few times to get some laugh-out-loud comedy if you've seen all of School Days. This was clearly an omake for the latest DVD release of the series.
