While being a very gifted artist, the high school student Asau Daisuke is currently suffering from a serious creative block, which is preventing him from painting. His close childhood friend, Tachibana Amane, can only stand by and try to help her Daisuke over come his problems. But when several other girls get close to Daisuke and strive to help him, Amane becomes fearful of losing him and his attention, and afraid that he will never understand just how deep an unspoken love she feels for him. Based on a popular love-sim game. Two Episode OVA (released in 2001/02) Produced by TripleX & Studio Kyuuma & Lemon Heart There is a 'sequel' to this series, Canvas 2 ~Niji Iro no Sketch~, but only one character crosses over (The next door neighbor).

Canvas ~Motif of Sepia~ Drama : Low Comedy : Low Action : None SciFi : None Ecchi : High After watching some of Canvas 2, I decided to put Canvas 1 on. At first I thought this was a harem. Then I realized it is just about the guy. The girls are there for commentary and there is no character growth. The ending is just soso and I was rather surprised that this was an HGame. It's not all that good really. It's a shojo romance with some ecchi put in to keep the guys interested. Canvas ~Motif of Sepia~ This two episode OVA is a pretty simple high school romance story, punctuated with a short ecchi scene in each episode. While being artistically a very pleasant anime series, I find it to have a very simple and uninspiring story line, worth only a <watch> rating. There might be those into this type of series who might rate this(as high)as a <rent>, but they would probably would be few in numbers. I have posted some snaps of the first episode.
