Having watched this a while back, I rewatched it so I can give a proper review. Art, Animation & Character Designs The artwork bordered on artististic and sorta sub-par. I didn't know which way to take it. Animation was average and character designs were'nt half bad. Sorta reminded me a lot of Kanon and Da Capo in artistic style. Music The OP wasn't bad. It was an alternative-rock piece with female vocals. Actually, let me take that back. It was actually quite enjoyable. The music was pretty at times. There were flutes, chimes and pianos here and there, which gave a sense of beauty to the overall feel. Series and Episode Story Aside from the fact that the episodes are shorter than the norm, they were sorta boring and too predictable. This is not to say that it was a complete loss. Instead, though it was boring, it did pick up near the end and all of a sudden, there's a shift of gear and the plot turns out to beat the odds. Overall, a very average and stereotypical series that has a surprising conclusion... sorta. Not bad but there's plenty of better ones out there. Last updated Friday, May 15 2009. I'm a big fan of Final Approach, and became curious about W-Wish, which ran alongside it. My initial impression was that this would be an extremely vapid high school romance, maybe not worth the time it would take to watch it--even though the episodes are only 12 minutes or so long. Indeed, 12 minutes might be the most I could handle at a time! Not much comedy... predictable drama... a school festival, a trip to the beach (been there, done that)... Inexplicable memory loss (these are dime-a-dozen in anime)... Sibling affection bordering on incest... In short, it would be easy to give up early on. The show did have some atmosphere, i.e, was slightly educational about life in Japan, and was mildly amusing. It was around episode 8 that, much to my surprise, W-Wish suddenly got serious--and weird--and interesting. I certainly wasn't expecting a supernatural twist to this slice-of-life show! As it turns out, an artifact which Junna's archaeologist parents once excavated posseses mystical powers which explain his memory loss. It doesn't make complete sense, but things are turned upside down in a rather radical manner, most unlike the milquetoast series this had seemed to be early on. I did feel somewhat excited and intrigued as time ran out in the final episode. The solution Junna reasons out works almost too well (which is kind of anticlimactic), but still there was a pleasing ending; and the title winds up making some sense, too! I can't recommend buying or renting W-Wish, but don't underestimate the value of a Watch rating. When a person has a plentiful supply of anime waiting to be viewed (as I do), time can become more valuable than money, and a show worth the time it takes to watch it has significant value. After all, I did spend some of my time watching this series, when I could just as well have spent it on shows I'd bought or rented. I think I got my time's worth! I would say that W-Wish isn't that bad. I feel that the characters that are drawn in the anime resemble Da Capo. I think that the anime overall though isn't bad. First, it talks about how the sister likes the brother and they arn't blood-related. Then it talks about how they spend time together etc. After that tey finally start talking about the plot at about the half-way point. Then I think is quite interesting. The ending was a bit suprising because, this was really supposed to be a romance and since it is, it should end the way a romance should be. Anyways, it does wrap up the plot about the past thing which is a good thing. I was really happy with Final Approach but, I don't think W-Wish was as great in my opinion. this was a waste of my time. i saw 7 esp. hoping that the next one would be better then the last. And then i finally understood what was going on and it was just.. sigh.. forget it.. avoid its not really that good. At first i kind of like it (rate: 7) and then it keep going and taking me in circles and not really getting a straight plot. (rate: 4) Yeah, i'm pretty sure that there was an game that was the basics of the anime. but it seems that, they couldn't really get it right.then they got lazy Avoid it. there are 13 esp. total. Hummm .. thirteen episodes at twelve minutes each ... and a deep topic, surrounding the death of their parents. Too much material and too short of time, so a lot gets chopped in translation from the game to the screen. If you don't expect much, then you will not be disappointed.
