Happy-Go-Lucky Days is actually an anthology of four animated shorts with the common theme being that each delve into a mundane development facing characters involved in some sort of romance and its manga source material being written by Takako Shimura, whom some will know of her work with titles like Hourou Musuko and Aoi Hana that dabble into themes of LGBT. The film is quite frank and to-the-point with exploring the developments of its couples in each short with the development of a lesbian relationship in the first, a high school teacher's reflection of his lost youth reflected through the eyes of his male students in the second, and a two-part short exploring the blossoming sexuality of two kids in elementary and middle school for the third and fourth shorts. The mundane storytelling could be of interest to folks wanting to relate to the developments of its characters, though may not be everyone's cup of tea if expecting anything longer or dramatic. In short, slice-of-life anime fans looking for a frank exploration of developing relationships may have interest in wanting to check this out.
