Well this is way better than the first Ranma movie: Big Trouble in Nekonron, China. By the way, it just feels so weird listening to English dub. I was watching it nearly a quarter way through when I could stand it no longer and went to download the Japanese raw version. It's just wrong to listen in dub. I digress. This is better than the first movie because of the involvement of more characters, and they're not just standing by to watch while Ranma takes up all the fight (like in the first movie). In this 2nd movie, most of the characters play a part and their antics are very fun to watch. Overall, I recommend this one for the Ranma fan.

The movie's opening is almost the same as Ranma The Movie: Big Trouble In Nekonron, China. Happosai steals female Ranma's top, and everyone chases after Happi, trampling Ryouga in the process. Once again Akane gets kidnapped, this time by a bratty little prince named Toma. Ukyo and Kasumi get kidnapped as well, so naturally Ranma and the other males have to go rescue them. The plot is so weak. If Akane can beat the crap out of Ranma, why wouldn't she attempt to do the same to her kidnappers? With the exception of the theme song Piece of Love, by Picasso, I don't really remember the music. I like the dub for this Ranma movie, I think Alessandro Juliani did a great job portraying Toma. Since the Toma character was supposed to be younger than Ranma and Akane, Juliani's childlike sounding voice (childlike sounding at the time this was dubbed) fit the character well. I don't think it's wrong to listen to an anime series in English, especially if English is your native language. This Ranma movie isn't terrible, but it's not great either. However, since this DVD only costs $5.00 - $10.00, it's worth buying, even if only to add one more DVD to your anime collection. Last updated Sunday, September 24 2006. This Ranma movie's only about an hour long, it's kind of silly, but thankfully it doesn't have nearly as much fan service as other anime shows I've seen. ||||||||

This second Ranma 1/2 movie is a typical Ranma-fest with a lot of fanservice. Now Ranma has always had nudity, primarily with Ranma in his girl-form. In addition to that, the entire female cast placed in bathing suits or skimpy-sexy outfits. But there is some stuff beyond fanservice. With the movie takng place on a deserted island with Ranma and all of the major supporting cast along for the ride, the writers had a hard time squeezing everyone in. Happosai does his normal annoying routine, but then is forgotten about in the latter half of the movie. Kasumi does little more than offer food and drink, but Inoue Kikuko does it soooo well. The other supporting characters get some, then are forgotten for a while before showing up again. Interestingly enough, Hayashibara Megumi got a lot of time as Ranma was in girl-form for about half the movie. If you are a fan of Megumi-san, this is a nice thing. The story is another weak device for Ranma to come to Akane's rescue & fight some opponent with a new skill Ranma's never seen and has to overcome. Ranma and Akane do have a nice moment together as do Shampoo and Mousse. Ryouga-kun and Ucchan have screentime, but it doesn't turn into a moment. Still, the movie does show the eventual pairings I suppose. However, if you've seen the TV series, you know what will happen in the movie and you will know how everything will turn out. You've been here plenty of times before. Bottom line: an OK movie and I wasn't bored. However, it is just more typical, shounen, Ranma-fare. Take that as you will.Last updated Sunday, July 25 2004. I do not think of this film as highly as others. First of all, Ukyo, Akane, and Shampoo are martial artists so why couldn't they save each other and why is it that Ranma needed to become a man again in order to break through his ropes? He never had that problem before. Also, the new villains were not as fun as the ones from the previous movie and the final fight with Prince Tomoe is not as interesting as the fight with Kurin. However, I did like the scenes between Kuno and Nabiki and Mousse and Shampoo and seeing Happosai and Cologne in beach clothes.

Ranma 1/2 to show just how busty the female sex can be. Sometimes I'm convinced Ranma 1/2 was made just to see how much of a person's skin can be shown (that's not a comment about nudity, and matter-of-factly, there is really only breif scene of nudity in the movie) Anyway, the whole Ranma gang heads to a tropical paradise, as led by Kuno in his boat, Binsense. While they are on this island, the girls start disappearing one by one and being replaced with peaches. Odd, wouldn't you say? Well, it turns out they are being kidnapped by a prince looking for a new bride! But, who will Prince Toma choose? The animation and art is very nice in this movie. But then again, I'm sure a title like Ranma 1/2 was given a big budget for a motion picture. Personally, I found the first movie to be more enjoyable. While this second movie really does a good job with that traditional goofy comedy that is seen in Ranma 1/2, the first movie is a little more serious and a different direction than this. I still reccommend watching it though. If you are new to Ranma 1/2, it would be best to skip this altogether at first, and watch some of the television episodes to get the feel of what's going on. Otherwise, you will just confuse yourself. 11/30/01 Last updated Friday, November 30 2001. Created Friday, November 30 2001. |

Yes, nothing is more fun than having the entire Ranma Gang on a tropical island, destine to battle it out with freaks who want to steal there women! Better still, seeing all the girls in the skimpiest clothing throughout the movie!!! ||||||||

I could make some rather tasteless jokes here, but instead I'll just say that fanboys will love this movie. The animaters had way too much fun with this one. Ranma the movie 2 was a solid effort, with nice animation, the best cast in anime, and a fun, light-hearted feel. Last updated Tuesday, March 06 2001. Created Tuesday, March 06 2001. |
Ranma 2 was a pretty good movie. I liked it alot better than the first one, it was much more "Ranma-ish" and kept the flavor and tone of the series better. ||||||||

I have to say this is a great movie, it has romance and comidy and some GREAT CHARICTERS. If you have seen the Ranma monga or any of the anime you are undoughtable hooked! This is a great addition to the monga or the anime, but the nodity is horable and the stuff the girls ware is not much better!!! If you have not seen any other Ranma, I would not sujest starting here, infact I would not sujest starting at all! Though I think they are really funny and REALLY sweet, They also have really bad nodity, but are very addicting! They've got a great story line just "too much" of Ranma is shown! And I'm not talking about his charicter!

FANBOY TIME: One reason is that the entire female cast is in bikinis and small dresses. Ranma-f is also briefly seen topless (those things giggle a good deal). END FANBOY TIME: The action sequences are great. And, finally, my favorite character does something cool and noble. He rescues his dream girl from a evil (but extremely cool) masked man, nearly killing himself. Sound like Ranma and Akane, right. Nope, this scenario is of Mousse and Shampoo, Mousse being my fave. The villains are really cool, especially the masked bird man that Mousse fights. Another thing that makes this movie interesting is that there is not just a single goal for the characters. They are told of water that will permanently change anything into a man. So everybody seems to be going after that more than they are trying to rescue Akane. The characters are still great (I just remembered that the guy with the boken is named Kuno, too lazy to rewrite those few words in prior review) and on a whole, this movie is my favorite of the two, na no da. This being the second of the Ranma movies, there aren't that many differences from the first. Akane is kidnapped and Ranma w/ the whole crew go to rescue her. But still, I liked this movie better than the first.||||||||

Ranma 1/2 movies. Both the first and second movies are about the same in plot, some guy kidnaps Akane and Ranma must go off and save her. However just like the OVA's it has some good artwork and animation. Not much on character development seeing how most of it was done in the 7 year TV series.
