Haruka Tsuchiya is a plain and simple university student who has a pet by the name of Okojo-san. Okojo-san was actually born in one of the mountains in the North and brought to one of the pet shops to be sold. Determined to get out of the pet shop, Okojo-san formulated an escape strategy and ended up in the house of Haruka. There are always funny and strange occurances happening around the two, be it the people or animals who are near them. This is a gag anime in which absurdity is the main feature of the story.

What Tsuchiya-chan calls "オコジョ" ("okojo") is a Stoat (Wiki). The sub-species of 'Ezo Stoat' (or white marten) is indigenous to the Hokkaidō region of Japan. The character string (or word) "しあわせ" is the kana sound pattern for "shiawase", which means "happiness; good fortune; luck; blessing".

Why do I think that this is someone's knock-off or imitation of the 296 episode cute-n-cuddly Hamtaro, the Hamster (ANIDB) series. The story line is the same - cute talking animals living the world of people and having various animal-type adventures.

Unevaluated Stretch [series:1788#628]
(One episode watched):

The basic premise of this show, an intelligent small mammal living with a human in an apartment, immediately reminded me of Oruchuban Ebichu. At first I wondered if this might be a children's series (which Ebichu most certainly was not), which I didn't want, but the fact that the laconic owner is usually drawn in a detailed, adult manner encouraged me to watch. An Okojo seems to be a rare and valuable weasel/ferret-like creature from Northern Japan. One potential problem is that "Okopy" strikes me as annoying and unfriendly, though this may change. The mouse, however, is cute and loveable. The way the narrator contributes to jokes reminded me of Potemayo. The episode consisted of two sub-plots, Okopy's arrival and his (hers?) being taken to a veterinarian. This first episode was fairly amusing--I got a lot of small laughs and at least one big one--and I'm leaning towards good as my verdict on this show. I was startled, however, to see that there are no less than 51 episodes, which would be quite a commitment of time.
