Reading the synopsis on this one had me in serious doubt. My first assumption was thinking it was for preteens and younger. However.... Art, Animation & Character Designs Artwork was pretty decent. It had a fair amount of details, semi-rich colors and smooth animation. At times however, it seemed a bit dull on the color palette side.... or maybe a bit dark. But then again, this might be due to the mostly cityskape setting. Character designs were a plus.... all of them had their own characteristics.... if not cliche (some). Music The OP was a rock-ish Hip-hop style piece.... almost something akin to Kid Rock. Not my style exactly but it was pretty decent. The ED was more or less similar and equally acceptable. As for rest of the soundtrack, it was mostly a blend of rock, streetbeats and similar. Series and Episode Story As KBanger1 below, I had serious doubts about this series. Unfortunately, I had already picked it up and I have a rule of thumb regarding watching a series that I pick up. Sooo, I was pretty much in on this one. Although I can't say it was even close to being memorable or really exciting, it did have its moments and was moderately entertaining. What made it entertaining was mostly the characters... and finitely, the 4 sisters. Nice! This series does have a few filler episodes... which I've never been a fan of since I hate being strayed away from the plot/storyline. But I suppose a break once in a while isn't too bad. For the most part though, we do stay on track and the plot does get deaper as the series progresses. One thing I do like about this series are the sometimes serious roller blading (AT) and battle scenes. Overall, this series is a light entertainment that does hold your interest for the entire (mostly) duration of the series. I'd say it's a fair watch. Last updated Tuesday, January 01 2013. final review after I rewatch the anime... I just bought the complete box set! Time to laugh my a** off once again with this title in English dub... I really had some serious doubts of this series because of its theme which is roller blading to an extent. It threw me for a curve because I thought it would be a very one-sided story. I was fortunate to watch it though and I have to admit it was becoming a replay favorite of mine. The story is about a kid who lives with his 4 adoptive sisters. Ikki, the protagonist in this series, is a degenerate who ends up learning about ATs (Air Treks) and begins to enter a new world of competition he has never seen before. What I like about Ikki is that although he is a degenerate, he knows it and doesn't change for anyone. He's a wise ass and somehow he can get away it sometimes. He's also someone who once he sets his goal on something, he works at it and gets it. He's a character you'd love to hate but can't because he's too damn funny. Storywise, it drags a bit in the first 3 episodes, but it develops into a deeper story. You see why Ikki lives with 4 girls, he's in a gang, and why he can do the things he does. Even though there's enough fan service to satisfy those who enjoy it, the story is pretty deep and gets interesting along the way. Here's my problem...the ending is pretty pointless and leaves much to desire. The whole series boils down to a good story with a sloppy ending. If that wasn't the case, it would have been an easy "Buy". It's a bit disappointing, but it's a different change than most of the action/adventure type of anime out there. The best thing I can say is that the english dubs are pretty hilarious and make a lot of cornball remarks but that's why it's not lower than "Rent". Last updated Friday, July 04 2008. (All episodes watched) Let me ask if you are under the age of fourteen? If so, then this is fun series with lots of fanservice, SD (super-deformed) characters, and mean-n-nasty AT-gangsters, that you are certain to enjoy watching (at least once) and would probably rate a RENT. And then my words to all others are .. sigh!! This is yet another of those wonder-boy series in which the unappreciated underachiever happens to find his secret (insert word here - skill/secret/ability/gift), which once he masters, allows to garner both respect from his friends and the attention of the girl of his dreams. The story is a bit cliché, the dialogue is formulaic and the plot predictable. Well.... at least the animation is done well. What ticks me off the most are the apparently obligatory really dumb filler episodes, which are provided as ‘comedic relief’ and the repeated rehashing of footage in this series. The only good thing that I can say is that Simca is really a cute and fun flirt. Otherwise, this series is only worth a quick and mindless watch. If you are interested in this type of martial arts ecchi-fest, then you should check out AIKI at MangaFox. Similar story line, but a better tale with more interesting characters ....
