Wakamatsu Masato is a high school student who has a crush on a girl in his class - the lovely Kashima Miyuki. The road to winning her love is full of misunderstandings though, further complicated by the fact that Masato's younger sister, whom he had not seen for 6 years, has returned to live with him. When Masato finds out that his cute sister, who is also called Miyuki, is not related to him by blood, he has to deal with the conflicting emotions he feels for both Miyukis.

Notable for being Mitsuru Adachi's first work, Miyuki is quite different from the later works he would do that revolve around sports. Here, Miyuki plays out more as a romantic comedy focused on male lead Masato's interactions with the two Miyukis (step-sister and love interest) that are part of his life and dealing with the unwanted attention that his male classmates and teachers give them. Unlike Adachi's later works, this series isn't entirely innocent as it comes with a decent amount of fan service with girls in various states of undress, Masato usually finding himself an accidental pervert in some capacity, and a good number of the male characters aren't afraid to attempt trying to sneak a peek. Episodes to the series are mostly self-contained with their plots that vary from mundane interactions that Masato has with one of the Miyukis or dealing with one of his male classmates ogling one of the Miyukis, and appears to be left open-ended. Overall, it's nothing really special for an 80s romantic comedy. There are better offerings of the genre made for the era such as Maison Ikkoku and Kimagure Orange Road (TV).

Unevaluated Jan-Chan [series:1267#967]
A very old series based on the manga by Adachi Mitsuru - and it shows.

Originally aired in 1983, this series was licensed for release in the French and Spanish languages, but never in English. One fansub group begin working on this series, but stopped at about episode 8 and it was never finished.

Very different from Adachi's later manga works (which deal with high school sports), this tale is one of a boy who really likes a cute classmate named Miyuki. And then suddenly his step-sister (no-blood relation) returns to Japan after a six year absence. His sister's name is Miyuki too, which causes some confusion throughout the series. But it appears that his sister has some issues with her brother and begins to interfere with his relationship with the other Miyuki. Mixed into the story are a pack of manipulative (sleazy weasels) 'friends and classmates' who are angling to date his sister - not that she has any interest in any of them.

In short - YES, this is an Adachi title, but its not as charming and innocent as his later works.
