Tenjou Tenge showing Soichiro further developing his powers and Aya confronting sister Maya for her contribution to current events between the Executive Council and Juken Clubs, though still leaves the series open-ended since the Preliminary Battles were never animated. Still if you were craving more Tenjho Tenge, I suppose this will be as good an animated continuation of the series as you will get.

Actually more like episode 25 and 26 of the series, the focus is now back on the original leads. Watch this OVA if you want to see some of the nicer episodes - almost no ecchiness and no brutality, but more character relations development. Therefore I consider the OVA to be about the best episodes of the series, albeit you'll be disappointed if you expect answers to many open questions. The next event of this story (the tournament) is announced already while not covered in the OVA yet - but I'm not sure whether this points to another sequel. Maybe it rather shows the cyclical nature of the story as such (note how Mitsuomi is aware of his role now), so that there can't be any real "ending" in the first place. I was hooked on the original release of the story, and very happy to share that it has lost nothing in the transition to an OVA format. The story-tense is current (Maya, Aya and Souichior), but with strong shadows as to what had happened in the past. Episode one and two explain some of Souichoro's family history and deepen the conflict between Aya and Maya's romantic feelings for that stubborn-brat Souichiro, but the story is building torward a final battle and confrontation with Maya and Mitsuomi. Definitely this is a story at a <buy> rating (but I am seriously hooked.) More later. Last updated Sunday, March 20 2005. Created Thursday, January 20 2005. |
