Focused on young Rachel Gardener being trapped in a mysterious building with several floors managed by several serial killers, she enlists the aid of one of the killers to help him escape the building in exchange for allowing him to murder her afterward. Angels of Death has two different story focuses: Rachel and Zack finding the means to survive their ordeals with the other killers in their building and both coming to confront their pasts. The former story element has its good share of suspenseful moments as our main pair often have to solve puzzles and maneuver past traps to overcome the killers on each of the floors they traverse, with Rachel being the brains and Zack the brawn of the pair. Throughout their ordeal, the series also takes time to explore the pasts of both characters in showing how Zack became a serial killer and a lot more going on with Rachel's state of mind than what would appear on the surface. In a twisted way, the two have good chemistry and grow to care for the well-being of each other as they go further up the building. Beyond our two leads, there isn't much to the other serial killers to a large degree beyond them having their psychotic quirks that drive them to deter and kill our main pair of characters. In short, Angels of Death makes for a solid psychological horror series exploring the developments of Rachel and Zack as they survive through the building of serial killers and overcome their personal traumas.

Unevaluated Stretch [series:3560#628]
(One episode watched):

Early on, I was modestly intrigued by this show; for instance, why is there an old-fashioned typewriter which, completely by itself, is typing out questions for Rachel to answer? But then a deranged slasher carrying a scythe appeared and my interest deflated like a balloon. 'Oh, it's going to be one of those shows'. Maybe trying to figure out what was going on in this strange building was more fun than watching Rachel try to escape from this guy and another madman who appears later on. Once they appeared this seemed like nothing more than somebody's nonsensical bad dream. But the notion that maybe this was just a dream never occurs to Rachel. 'Either give us an idea of what's going on', I thought to myself, 'or be over!' But in the end things were just as scrambled as ever and I couldn't particularly care whether the 'shocking' request that Rachel makes at the very end (I guessed it easily) would be granted or not. I didn't notice anything that was particularly novel or clever about this show. It was making no sense whatsoever and I decided not to watch anymore of it.
