Yuki Takeya loves her school so much that she does not want to ever leave! Megurigaoka Private High School is a unique and lively place where Yuki enjoys her carefree life as a third-year high school student and member of the School Living Club. The club, consisting of the president Yuuri Wakasa, the athletic Kurumi Ebisuzawa, the mature junior Miki Naoki, the supervising teacher Megumi Sakura, and the club dog Taroumaru, prides itself on making the most of life at school. However, this illusion of endless bliss is just a bubble waiting to be burst because Yuki is unable to perceive what is truly happening around her. In reality, all is not as it seems—the real purpose of the School Living Club is to escape from the shocking and disturbing truth: the girls are in the middle of a zombie apocalypse and have barricaded themselves inside the school as the sole survivors.

School-Live sticks out from many titles typical of the high school girl slice-of-life comedy mold in that the series features our group of girls caught up in a zombie outbreak with all their classmates turned into zombies and the girls attempting to survive within whatever remains intact of the school building. Because Yuki suffers from psychological delusions to assume whatever she sees is still normal, the other girls with her form a fake school club called the School Live Club to satisfy her delusion while also protecting her from zombie threats. While a number of the typical tropes of slice-of-life comedies rear their head at points to compliment Yuki's delusion, School-Live actually fleshes out its main cast by giving them back stories and showing them develop gradual changes in adjusting to their present predicament. It also offers up genuine suspense and drama as the girls usually find themselves having to deal with zombie hordes to get to different parts of the school or city, with the plot even escalating in the final few episodes of the series when the zombies start wrecking structural havoc on the school. Regrettably, the series is left open-ended as the specific cause behind the zombie outbreak is still unknown and the fate of our group of girls is left unclear. Still if you are looking for something different from the typical high school girls slice-of-life mold that has been overexposed in recent years, School-Live is a decent title to look into thanks to its incorporation of the "zombie outbreak" story mold mixed into it.
