Think of this movie to be like an extended episode of Hana-Saku Iroha considering this baby serves as a continuation of events from the series. Here, Ohana comes across a log book that recollects her mother's strained relationship with her own mother and taking up an interest in both love and reporting. This helps create some fleshing out of elements to the series as we learn a bit more about the character of Ohana's mother Satsuki and some character development occurs with Ohana as she comes to realize similar parallels in the present strain she has in the relationship with her mother, as well as one of the girls working with her at Kissuiso. Beyond these events, this movie felt no different from a typical episode of Hanasaku Iroha with the Kissuiso staff musing over typical affairs at the resort, the hit-and-miss comedic delivery and even the gorgeous, high quality animation being retained from the TV anime. If you were a fan of the hit 2011 TV anime, you're likely to get similar enjoyment out of watching Home Sweet Home in spite of its rather short hour-plus run.
