Having enjoyed the original To Aru Majutsu no Index (and the spin off), I jumped at grabbing this one. Boy I'm glad I did because it was far, far better! I changed the original listing above from "13" episodes to "24"... as this series is 24 indeed. Sat through every one of them.... happily at that.

Art, Animation & Character Designs
Artwork seems it has improved from the first season. This is to say, it is darn good. We have some well done backgrounds, rich details, vibrant colors and at times, some excellent lighting effects. Animation is equallly as good. Really smooth and almost flawless. Character designs are another plus. All our characters wer unique, have their own personalities and gives our story telling and plot further depth. "Index" (our female protagonist) is just kawaii. Love her character.

Music
The OP was excellent! It was a cool rock piece with female vocals. The sequence of animations fit the cords well. Nicely done. The soundtrack had some nice dramatic pieces here and there. At times, we get more effect type of music...... to better enhance the scenes at hand. A lot of it is on the techno-ish side with a hint of death-metal, which mostly happens during battle scenes. Nice!

Series and Episode Story
This second season is far, far better than the first season. Wow, I was sorta blown away at how much more improved it was. This series was far deeper, far more realistic, far more serious and plot far better. Actually, it picked up where the last one left off and continued the story telling but 10 times better!

Let's get to the good points:
The fight scenes are excellent! As with the first season, they're well choreographed with some amazing effects (character powers, etc). This time around, we're far more serious in our battle scenes with far more violence. Just well done! Then there's the characters on both sides (good and bad). The bad guys are far more sinister and serious.... and for the most part, bad-assed. The good guys are equally as impressive. Finally there's the plot. It gets pretty darn deep with various factions getting involved in various battles and interactions. This brings in even more characters and adds more depth to the plot as it progresses.

The bad points:
Come to think it, I can't really come up with any. Well, wait. If any at all, it would be that we get a few unanswered questions near the end. However, this leads to the belief that there "have to be" another season on the way. In fact, I really hope there is because I'm really curious about some of the characters that are more mysterious than anything.

Overall, I love this series! If the first season was great, then this one is wow! If you haven't seen the Index series, start with the first, then watch the spin off, then check this one out. Must watch!

Rent 9 9 9 8 9 8 Mark Clifton [series:2379#126]
The show continues where "To Aru Majutsu no Index" left-off. The storyline is based off the manga, which is good and the animation is one of the best for a TV series. It is worth checking out if you have watched the first season, otherwise you will not be able to follow the show easily.
