Art, Animation & Character Designs Nothing new here. (See my review of the first season here) Music There was no OP here. The soundtrack had some snippets of classical here and there. (See my review of the first season here) Series and Episode Story It was interesting seeing a character similar to Chiaki, but far more self-centered.... almost to the point of narcissism. But it was a fun watch! What made it fun was how Chiaki had to put up with it (Matsuda character). We also get brief scenes of some of our other characters mainly found in the first season such as Sagojo. OMG! The bathroom scene was a riot. Loved how they were throwing water at each other with their girly swipes of the bath water.... hahaha!! Overall, this series was a perfect addition to the rest of the installments. It had some really funny moments and Matsuda, as self-centered as he was, was still an enjoyable character. Last updated Wednesday, May 18 2011. Created Wednesday, May 18 2011. |
I loved all three of the Nodame series. So I was thrilled to pick up this OVA. Glad I did because it had me rolling with laughter at some of the scenes.||||||||

This episode was a bit of a hoot. Pretty much, this OAV introduces a guy who is more self-absorbed than Chiaki and shows how Chiaki can react to someone who displays worst traits than he does. In the end, this attitude backfires quite horribly for Matsuda leading to enough laughs towards the end of the episode. If you've seen all three TV seasons of Nodame Cantabile, then consider watching this OAV at some point to get more laughs at the expense of Matsuda's narcissism blowing up in his face.

This OVA is both different and exceptional! Different in that it actually has a plot which is exceptionally focused and funny. Yes, there is some fan-service in this episode (the bathroom scene still has me chuckling), but not in the traditional sense. If you enjoyed the animated tale of Chiaki and Nodame, then this side-story makes a worthy addition to the series. Somehow the prissy and high-brow attitude of Chiaki is put into perspective, especially when compared to the narcissistic and ego-maniacal MATSUDA Yuki. Last updated Wednesday, September 30 2009. Special OVA episodes are typically cheap and fluffy fan-service oriented side-stories in which all of the main characters end up going to the beach or to a hot-spring-spa. ||||||||
