Kimura is the main focus of this OAV as he bets his boxing career on gaining the Junior Lightweight Title from Mashiba. The usual elements of Hajime no Ippo are found in this series with character focus, training sessions, and the mindsets of the boxers as they clash in the ring. These elements are still as solid as always for this OAV as it even retains the improved animation present from the Takamura OAV and the movie. Compared to main characters like Mashiba and Takamura though, Kimura just didn't seem to interest me as much with the pressures he felt before and during his match. With the pressures Mashiba had, I thought there could have been more focus on his character as he seemed more interesting to get to know. Despite not being as interested in the character involved, I still enjoyed this OAV. It still retains all the elements that made the TV series worth watching and is still worth a watch from Hajime no Ippo fans. Last updated Saturday, October 18 2008.
