I'm surprised that no one one on Mikomi's reviewed this title considering the following I've seen of it from the Anime News Network forums. This is a series with a nice amount of depth into the bonds of characters and their developments as we learn more about the Rynax and the activities of the GPO. In fact, family bonds play a strong role in the motivations of the characters throughout this series, especially with Kurau and Christmas. With the two Rynasapian girls, they have a sisterly bond that make them feel complete as not having each other around makes them feel like their lives are incomplete. Throughout their adventures, the two come across other characters who are shown to have family bonds that they either have a connection to or drive them towards their goals. The sense of family bonds in Kurau, especially with the importance of pairs for the Rynax, makes for some powerful moments in this series. The only blemish to this aspect of Kurau would be some corrupt characters seen later in the series who are just your run-of-the-mill crazed villians either trying to acquire status for themselves or thinking they are righteous enough to kill people who don't agree with their ideals.

Visuals were solid enough in Kurau with a wide range of settings to admire throughout the series like the streets of San Francisco, the Swiss countryside, and even a moon colony. Animation was quite fluid in many of the show's action scenes that occured between GPO and Rynasapiens. Character designs were decent, though nothing really stood out with me for them. Even though the music did fit in decently with the mood of this series, I couldn't find myself getting hooked on it.

Kurau's focus on the bonds that specific characters have towards families make this stand out from most action titles I've been watching lately. It's worth a look if you are looking for an action title that shows more to it than just tensions, rivalries, and fighting.
