There's not really much I have to say about how flawed This Ugly Yet Beautiful World is. What seemed like an interesting premise on exploring an alien girl unaware of her role to destroy all life on Earth and understanding the complexities of being human is marred with fan service, the major plot not explored until the final episodes of the show, character archetypes seen enough times before in high school romantic comedies, elements of harem comedy and watering down the complicated themes that the show tried to emphasize at the start of the show. Even with its ecchi heavy moments and slice-of-life comedy, Mahoromatic didn't stray as far away from its major plot as badly as this series did. This Ugly Yet Beautiful World is a mediocre romp from Gainax which I'm not likely gonna hop back to seeing anytime soon.

It seemed interesting from the synopsis, so I gave it a whirl.

Art, Animation and Character Design
Art and animation was about average. Nothing really worth noting. However at times the animation would get choppy... which would imply the frame rate dropped a bit. Not so serious to mark the animation down a grade though. Character designs were your cliche lot, thus offering nothing new.

Music
The OP wasn't too bad. It was an alternative piece and slightly upbeat. I actually caught myself humming along once or twice... which is really unheard of for me. Other pieces were light piano pieces that were barely noticeable.

Series and Episode Story
It started off with a bit of action (episode 1 as a whole). But still, there wasn't much to this story. In fact, the plot didn't really take off until the last few episodes and even then, it seeemed the writers tried to slap some "twist" together with conspiracies and what not, but didn't quite do the trick. Although the plot was lacking, it didn't mark the end of the anime. It was actually "sorta" enjoyable... with a heavy emphasis on "sorta". You had your dosage of ecchiness, your cliche moments and some laughter.

Overall, it wasn't a bad anime. It was one of those to watch when you've nothing else to see. It wasn't bad.

Rent Forbin [series:811#1573]
Hmm how to describe this. It's really between Rent and Watch but since it is better than Wind A Breath of Heart I'll give it a Rent Rating.
This thing has ecchi scenes and some slight Yuri hints. Hikari and her sister Akari (Pictured above) are great as clueless girls learning to live in this ugly world.
This is really a cross between Please Save My Earth and Chobits and Onegai Twins. The world is in Danger of extermination and only Takeru can save it.
Graphics isn't bad but the storyline needed more help (I think they had just watched Twins or something). 2 Episodes of Plot. 8 Episodes of Filler (Where the ecchi scenes are, obligitary onsen scene of course), 2 more episodes of Plot (the finale). Add in a dash of government conspiracy (Which wasn't really much of one, no black helicopters or strange men walking around) and you have this anime.
While it was nice to watch once, I probably won't go back to it.
