Two boys named Rōma and Toto meet when Rōma moves from Tokyo to the countryside, which he cannot grow accustomed to. But when he meets Toto, they become a duo, naming themselves "Don Glees." Eventually, Toto was supposed to move out to Tokyo for school, but on the summer of their first year of high school, they meet Drop, a new addition to Don Glees, who invites them to "view the world from above." When Rōma and Toto follow Drop, they become involved in a forest fire that gets blamed on them, and go off in search of a missing drone that has evidence of their innocence. A small incident becomes an important, life-changing journey.

Goodbye, Don Glees!
Goodbye, Don Glees! is a film that starts off strong, but sadly stumbles in its final half-hour. Focused on a trio of middle school boys, the three go on an adventure to track down a remote-controlled drone to attempt proving their innocence when fireworks from a summer festival accidentally contribute to a nearby forest fire. This element of the story offers up the best developments and engagement of the film as it explores some of the major issues facing each of the boys on their adventure and featuring various points of the journey where they deal with some sort of risk from the forest environment they are hiking through. A plot twist within the final 30 minutes of the film leads the overall quality of the film to take a hit between the development seemingly being kind of sudden, going in a direction that seems beyond the scope of what was focused on in the earlier hour, and the resolution to it feeling quite contrived. Essentially, it's like the film has two different focuses that result in different levels of quality for the sections in question. While I'd still say Don Glees is decent enough to check out thanks to its first two-thirds, just be warned that the final third of it will likely not be your cup of tea given its sloppy execution compared to the earlier parts of it.
