Their secret is a special talent known as 'Sense', which allows them to outshine conventional actors. The best one of all is known as the World Dai Star. This is a position which Kokona Otori hopes to reach, though her first several auditions for the prestigious SIRIUS theater troupe have revealed little Sense within her.

My impression after watching episode one was that this show was perched right on the line between worth and not worth watching. The premise, what with a special theater group in which women play all parts, reminded me of another fairly recent anime. There were a number of generic bits: the esteemed actress who everyone expects to get accepted into SIRIUS, and who is contemptuous of Kokona, and Kokona's well nigh miraculous audition performance after showing little sign of noteworthy talent previously (it seemed pretty obvious that her friend Shizuka should have been the one auditioning, and it looks like one way or another she, too, will join SIRIUS). But perhaps it is none other than Kokona's mediocrity at this early stage that makes us want to root for her. She has basically gotten very lucky, and we wonder if she will be able to quickly improve enough to remain a member of SIRIUS. Also, I wonder if we will ever get much of an idea of what this 'Sense' stuff is. So, I figured I would watch another episode. But as it worked out I had (as usual) fallen far behind and could not afford to keep watching every possibly OK anime of the season.
