Aggretsuko Season 5 continues exploring Haida's circumstances following his decision to resign his job from the last season as he struggles with finding work and resorts to gaming as an escape from his troubles. His troubles are meant to serve as a personal connection to young adults of his generation of the troubles they can face struggling with employment and the disconnection they have with the older generation assuming they are being ungrateful for not getting what they want out of life, this painfully shown with the introduction of Haida's family that helps add additional dimension to Haida's feelings of inferiority and worthlessness from prior seasons of the franchise. The series features some additional developments in Haida's relationship with Retsuko and still offers up its fair share of humorous moments to balance out the serious developments of its storytelling, particularly when Retsuko and Haida's clash with the latter's family leads to a literal political campaign between them in the second half of the series. While the political campaign angle may seem a bit grand considering Aggretsuko's focus on workplace issues for young adults in past seasons, I'd argue it still connects with that generation considering the generational tensions that can arise from the different living experiences of older and younger generations. If you've enjoyed earlier seasons of Aggretsuko up to this point, this fifth season still offers more of the same with its solid balance of comedy and serious storytelling involving the struggles of its young adult cast.
