Why was it that yesterday I felt contemptuous of Midara na Ao-chan wa Benkyou ga Dekinai but today am feeling amused by this show, when the two have a lot in common? Both employ plentiful fanservice and depict lucky teenage boys finding themselves in sexually arousing situations. Perhaps the difference is that Midara hardly seemed to make any effort to be plausible; it was just the usual 'oops, I tripped and fell with my face in your breasts' balderdash. Episode one of Nande, in contrast, takes a more straightforward and believable approach by depicting a hot teacher who simply doesn't care if boys see her partially nude. She could kick their asses if they tried anything, after all. Maybe part of the difference is the more realistic character designs and more realistic bodies in general. Little SD faces block our views of tits and genitals in this TV version of the anime. Whatever the case may be, as a result the crazy coincidences that occur even here seem less patronizing and more humorous. Nande basically comes up with more complex situations which might conceivable occur to a lucky boy once in a million years. Stuff like a sexy teacher asking you to give her a suppository. So, for once we have a show which both gives you a boner and (to a limited extent) makes you laugh. Most shows will do the former, because it is relatively easy, and leave it at that. Basically, how many different situations can be thought of in which a hot teacher might wind up in erotic physical contact with a student? One teacher fears she has been bitten by a poisonous snake--near her crotch--and asks a boy to suck the poison out. Some scenarios are more imaginitive and plausible and thereby entertaining than others. As the show neared its end it seemed that the makers were running out of original ideas. The comedy angle of the approach seems to kind of go stale with time, and women are objectified--the show repeats the old implication that a girl will experience a pleasurable orgasm if you just touch her in the right place, so it's not such a bad thing to do and you needn't be ashamed of yourself. Nande didn't strike me as 'dirty', since these encounters invariably take place by accident, but after awhile I couldn't help wondering if I should really be watching this show.
