Release the Spyce
(One episode watched):|
This show seems to follow the basic premise of a worthy protagonist being offered, completely or largely by coincidence, a too-good-to-be-true chance at self-respect and purpose for his/her life. But the particulars here were so far-fetched that it was hard to take the show seriously. Momo can divine a person's mood by licking them? Super sophisticated (and no doubt fantastically expensive) technology in the hands of high school girls? A ninja frog? It seemed like a show that was not worrying very much about being plausible. James Bond-like gadgets are one thing, but there has got to be a believable plot as well. These girls are so good at what they do, and (other than Momo) so confident that it is hard to conceive of them winding up in a serious jam someday. It's a one-sided fight, which isn't terribly exciting. The show wasn't terrible, however; Momo has some personality and we can wonder a little whether she will earn a place within Tsukikage. But the whole thing seemed so far-out to me (and the good vs. evil theme seemed so simplistic) that I decided to dispense with Release the Spyce.
