Iroduku is a character drama focused on a teenage girl named Hidomi who is a colorblind magician living in the far future with a lack of interest in engaging with others, and gets sent back to the past by her grandmother to reinvigorate her granddaughter's interest in magic and interaction with others. Essentially, Hidomi learns to develop her bonds with others, become more outgoing, and improve her abilities in magic by interacting with her grandmother as a teenager and her friends. There is even some romance that develops as Hidomi slowly develops a relationship for Yuito Aoi, an introverted teenage artist who is similar to Hidomi in both find themselves struggling to relate to others. The series has some strong character chemistry and development shown throughout Iroduku's run with Hidomi shown to become less introverted as she interacts with the students of her teenage grandmother's school and gradually comes to better appreciate those bonds as she grows closer to the friends she meets. Also as to be expected of a PA Works anime, Iroduku is gorgeous in the animation department with beautiful and highly-detailed scenic shots, great-looking character designs, and moments of impressive animation compliments of any use of magic shown with Hitomi and other magicians within the series. Overall, Iroduku is yet another strong work from PA Works that sticks out as one of the year's best anime thanks to its strong character development in regards to Hidomi's growing acceptance of others.

Unevaluated Stretch [series:3578#628]
(Two episodes watched):

Hitomi is a mage but either cannot or will not perform any magic; she seems to have some sort of magical malady that reminded me of color blindness. She is sent back in time (I think) to meet her grandmother when granny was about her own age--exactly why isn't clear. To cure her problem, perhaps? Episode one didn't exactly make clear what the premise of this show will be, or what the basic conflict is, or what's at risk. Nevertheless Hitomi seems to be a nice girl, and the show isn't trying to 'wow' us with outlandish tricks (the magic is very low key), so for the moment I was left curious where this might go. 'Slice-of-life magic' might be an appropriate description of the theme. But when episode three came around I found that I didn't want to watch it very much. The lack of a clear conflict had left me kind of bored with this show; this magical color blindness or whatever never made much sense and wasn't exactly exciting.
