Fukigen na Mononokean
I suppose if there's a comparable series you could compare Morose Mononokean to, it would be Natsume Yuujinchou where a young man finds himself interacting with various spirits that he is one of the few humans who can see them and the show exploring his interactions with them. However unlike the light dramatic mood of Natsume, Morose Mononokean takes on a somewhat more comical bent thanks to the exaggerated emotions of Hanae in response to his predicament and he serves as assistant to the spiritualist Abeno, who is tasked with sending youkai still in the human world back down to the underworld. Still, the series knows when to be serious if the plot requires it and does take some time to exploring the youkai that take up the world of Mononokean, most notable of which being when Hanae and Abeno make a visit to the underworld. Natsume comparisons aside, Morose Mononokean still stands on its own two feet with exploring Abeno and Hanae's interactions with youkai while taking on a somewhat more lighter mood in comparison.
