Yet another one-shot 90s OAV series being used to promote its manga source material, Twilight of the Dark Master does offer a slick and gothic presentation in its depiction of Tsunami Shijo's quest to get details on a corrupt bio-technology company performing demonic experiments yet rushes through many of its developments and offers little exploration on its characters and world greatly limiting any connection one would get out of the series. This is best left to be avoided and just go track down whatever source material the anime was adapted from.

I like the plot of Twilight of the Dark Master, just not the execution. It would have helped immensely if they didn't try to squeeze so much into a 40 minute "film". By doing so, they left out character development and background information. I didn't care at all when certain characters died. There is quite a bit of gore in this one. I also feel the ending is a bit rushed: Baddie appears, next 2 minutes, baddie dies. I wouldn't pay retail price for this one. Rent it or if you find it cheap like I did, then by all means pick it up.

Twilight of the Dark Master is a visually beautiful dark tale which unfortunetely lacks in the story department.
Like most people here say, it seems like it was missing just a little bit of story. I honestly cannot even comment on the content of the story because I really don't remember what I watched for I was losing interest. I even fell asleep during the last 10 minutes and ended up rewatching it only to find out I have nothing to say about that either.
On the other hand, the art and animation is beautiful in this show (I believe this is another Studio Madhouse title.) The character design, however, was a little on the.. how do I put it, ugly side.
I chose to watch this feature in Japanese and the voice acting was wonderful! It seemed that all the voices just fit with each character very well.
While I'm not going to reccommend running out to go purchase Twilight this minute, if you have the chance to borrow it from a friend (like I did, thankfully), then take them up on the offer and check it out.

All right yet another movie that took an excellent story and crushed it down in order to I dont know what they wanted to do by putting that thing on video. It was all dark and cool, but so what. I cant stand this latest trend towards dark and brooding with no story instantly makes a cult classic. If are one of the many mindless vidiots then you should love this as much as you loved such as junk as Darkside Blues, Blood, and Akira.

I think I missed something while watching TWILIGHT OF THE DARK MASTER as the tale lacked something of a coherent plot. While visually stunning and interesting for the most, there was little explanation or motivation for the events in the story which made the experience somewhat lacking at the end. I think that a little more of a back story should have been included to make the audience feel more satisfied at the end as the anime felt like it was missing about half an hour of footage. Of course if youre willing to sacrifice story for animation (an offensive trend in lowering intelligence and standards that is gaining far too much popularity) its worth every cent of your money.

Dark, gothic, and quite violent, Twilight of the Dark Master was an engaging and very good anime, particularly if one is a fan of animes like Wicked City (which I personally don't care for). I found Twilight to be quite engaging, however, and well written, as opposed to the abismally cliche City, with a far better main character and much better dialogue. The animation is very nice, very fluid with unbelievably good fight-sequences between the super-powered being. The death of the unstoppable villian is cleverly done.
Twilight of the Dark Master sadly lacks in the fact that there is no back story, though a seemingly intricate one is hinted at. Perhaps we can hope for a prequal? Also, it runs a bit short at roughly 45 minutes, which is disappointing.
Twilight gets my recommendation, despite a short running time. It seems to be rather obscure, but has been released on DVD with a couple of nice extras, which make it a bit of a better value.
