First-grader Masaya is a crybaby despite his large stature, so he can't walk by himself on the dark path to school. The one who holds his hand is Akiyo, a tiny but capable second-grader. Masaya wants to be strong like Akiyo and admires her, but one day, something happens that leaves Akiyo in tears. To lift Akiyo's spirits, Masaya goes trekking to the distant Ipponsugi forest to find the spotted bellflowers that Akiyo loves.

This short seemed to be a sort of coming-of-age/ slice-of-life title about a timid first grader learning to gain greater self-confidence and overcoming his fears as he tries to get flowers for a classmate from a forest area that the two usually play in. This seems like the kind of title that children could relate and connect with considering its simple and pastel-like animation style for its scenery and characters. While the attempt to make a moral out of the short may seem commendable, I found that the execution of it for this short was poorly thought-out as Masaya essentially walked a long distance unescorted by anyone to get to the spot where he wanted to get his flowers and the adults in the series were complete idiots for failing to realize what was going on or allowing Masaya to press on with the journey in spite of the possible dangers he could have been exposed to being all alone. Adult common sense was apparently an afterthought in this attempt at painting a moral theme and whomever came up with the idea for this short seems to have a poor grasp of the dangers that a kid around Masaya's age could face in real life if they attempted to go through the same ordeal he did. Among the Anime Mirai shorts I've seen thus far, this one is the weakest of the lot due to how poorly thought out its attempt at a moral was.
