Taking place before Bakemonogatari, Nekomonogatari: Kuro explores Araragi's first confrontation with the bakeneko that came to possess Hanekawa in the Tsubasa Cat arc of Bakemonogatari. This series provides more detail on Hanekawa's background and shows what led her to be cursed by the bakeneko. The series pretty much follows the setup you would find from the two other Monogatari titles with dialogue heavy exchanges between characters over odd subjects or the oddity at hand for an arc, random moments of fan service and ecchi moments that have actual relevance for plot or characters and moments of intense, bloody violence from Araragi getting torn apart by whatever oddity he confronts. The avant-garde art style and nicely detailed character designs used for the two prior TV seasons of the Monogatari franchise are retained here. It looks like Nekonomogatari also made some nods to events that occurred in Kizumonogatari, which is presently in development by Shaft with no confirmed theatrical release date announced yet, so take warning that you could be confused on what is discussed if you aren't familiar with that point of the series from the light novels. Otherwise if you enjoyed the two prior Monogatari TV anime titles, this one is a definite keeper that explores more details on Hanekawa.
