Code;Breaker is mostly typical fare for a shounen action title with its focus on superpowered teens being government agents tasked to assassinate criminals and a high school girl discovering their existence. It does attempt to paint a morally grey spin on the actions of the teens with what they have to cast aside to protect others, which has its potential shown at points with some of the character backgrounds explored. However, the series instead mostly resorts to cliches typical of shounen and action anime as the series relishes heavily in generic superpowered battles, government conspiracies, shades of black and white morality rearing their head in regards to Sakura's idealist beliefs and purely evil generic baddies, and inane attempts at high school-style comedy. While the title's source material is a shounen series, I get the impression that this baby may also be fangirl bait considering you get several attractive guys parading around with Sakura throughout the ordeals they confront. Also, the series is left open-ended as aspects to the characters and hints of another enemy threat to face were left unaddressed. Overall, this is rather forgettable fare for a shounen action title and you are not really missing out on much here.

Well, this one started with a strange angle that piqued my interest: while riding a bus, a girl thinks she sees several men burst into flames late one night. The show had a touch of decent humor to it as well. But before long, tired stereotypes swamp the strange beginning: the girl is a phenomenal martial artist, a gang of 100% evil punks exists, supernatural powers which a select group can utilize, etc, etc. This doesn't look particularly original after all; probably a reverse-harem about the girl, Sakura, and vigilante pretty boys. But I can't help wondering how what happened at the end will be explained (my guess: Sakura has some special powers of her own which she has been unaware of until now). Perhaps I'll watch another episode, but I doubt if this show will grab my interest. I'll probably remember it for the most pathetic animation ever of a dog in motion.
