For her first year of high school, family circumstances force FU Sawatari to move to ↗Takehara, a scenic old town near Hiroshima on the Inland Sea and live with her relatives. Her father, who has passed away, grew up in Takehara and always spoke fondly of his childhood while living there. Sawatari learns to love taking photographs with his old film camera, a ↗Rollei 35S while making friends and learning about the town. This "healing" slice-of-life anime from director Junichi Sato (who also worked on ARIA & Umi Monogatari) which tells the tale of Fu Sawatari and the friends who gather around her as she comes to love her new home. Animation by Hal Film Maker OVA, 2010, 4 episodes, 15 min each. A 2011 TV adaptation of the series was made called Tamayura - Hitotose.

Tamayura Another of these "cute girls doing cute things" type of slice-of-life anime. The series has some light drama with one of the girls among the circle still getting over the loss of her father. But otherwise, there isn't much lasting appeal to this series thanks to the limited depth it offers for its cast. Only worthwhile if you're a slice-of-life anime fan. Tamayura You can't go wrong with this OVA. It's a light fun anime to sit through and may even brighten up your day (or night). Art, Animation & Character Designs Artwork in this OVA is definitely above the average. There's some great lighting effects, excellent shadows and rich colors. Details are extremely high, in both the backgrounds and foregrounds. Artwork in general (including our characters) are cute, charming and kawaii. Loved the facial expressions! Music The OP was a nice light alternative piece with female vocals. Somehow it almost sounded like a country piece. The soundtrack is mostly comprised of pianos, which is always a welcome. It gives off a sense of calm and serenity. Nice. Series and Episode Story Now here's a cute and charming series. Everything about this series was charming.... the artwork, the voices, the characters and the story itself. Speaking of the story, nothing really happens here but somehow, it still makes you want to watch. Sitting through this series will simply put a smile on your face. Watch it in the morning and you just might go through the whole day with a smile. Overall, it' a light, charming OVA. It's a "feel-good" anime with great artwork and cute characters.
