This OAV features depth on the character of Jean who has received some hate by fans of GSG for his apparent lack of morality towards anyone affiliated with crime, terrorism, and anyone in the way of his goals, as well as his cold treatment of Rico. The two OAV episodes give a good amount of depth regarding Jean's relationships with those close to him such as Rico, Giuseppe, and dead sister Enrica. With this focus, it makes Jean not seem like the cold-hearted SWA agent that the two past seasons make him off to be. Besides Jean, some other characters like Henrietta, Giuseppe, and Rico are also given their depth with their bonds to other characters and thoughts on how their other half in the fratello relationship treats them. It's the character drama that is the best aspect of these OAVs. On the action end though, the OAVs still have many of the same problems as the TV series. The plot setup for the first episode is supposed to emphasize the action with Jean and Rico's Mafia bust. While the OAV's artwork has more polish to it than the TV show, there is still some emphasis on still shots and action scenes still lack the fluid movements of the first season. Character designs still look simplified and lacking the detail they had from the first season as well. These problems also carry over to the second episode of the OAV. Despite many of Il Teatrino's artwork issues still being present, the GSG Il Teatrino OAVs are still worthwhile to check out thanks to the additional depth given to Jean's character and the continued focus on the fratello relationships.
