If there is a major flaw to be found with the series though, it would have to be with character development with Kazuya and the group. While the group is a likeable bunch coming from different backgrounds, their characters aren't given much opportunity to develop. The show drops hints about possible romantic developments and aspects of Kazuya's background. But with the series mostly focused on the group solving its various mysteries, these elements are left undeveloped and make the show feel as if it is incomplete. Otherwise, the issue with character development is fairly minor as Ghost Hunt is still a worthwhile mystery/ horror title to get into which offers enough diversity in its cases and plot twists to keep things unpredictable and engaging from start to finish. I give it a strong Rent recommendation. Last updated Saturday, March 31 2012. Created Saturday, March 31 2012. |
This made for a surprisingly solid mystery/ horror title. Ghost Hunt features the exploits of Kazuya, Mai and other paranormal specialists as they get involved in a number of cases focused around the supernatural throughout its run. Unlike many mystery anime, Ghost Hunt doesn't get repetitive in the various cases that are explored nor are the outcomes that develop with said cases. Some of the cases involve nothing too risky for the group to tackle while there are others where the group comes into conflict with vengeful and powerful supernatural beings where their involvement is life-threatening and great risks need to be taken to handle said entity, as well as having different types of plot twists to keep each of the premises for each case fresh. Also unlike said mystery titles, the resolution to the cases in Ghost Hunt are not overly elaborate and contrived to the point where they seem absurd. The various paranormal abilities exhibited by the members of Kazuya's group and the cases they tackle are believably based on actual religious, spiritual and paranormal practices and studies that the series meticulously follows in most instances. The visual quality is quite good with vivid colors and a great amount of detail in the designs of scenery and characters which is consistent throughout the show's run.||||||||

I first discovered this by reading the novel and then I found out it was in anime form and I loved it and how the characters were portrayed. What is fun is to read the novel and then watch the movie form and see if there are any similarities or differences. This one is a must see. Hey well I'm reading the story again and watching the Anime. My question to you is do you believe in ghosts and things that go bump in the night? Answer yes I do and so does this schools principal. Naru is called in to take care of these disturbances. Mai calls him Naru because he is good looking and he knows it. But he isn't the only one called and soon there are four other people besides him and one student who says she knows the spirits are there because they attacked her already. The music at the beginning even sounds like ghosts flying in the air. this is excellent and I feel if you believe in ghosts or not you will just love this one. The Doll House episode is creepy. Little girls and little dolls. They sort of go together right? Well in this episode the little girls doll is possesed with a evile spirit. Creepy and scarey all at once. This one I don't suggest you watch alone. Just thinking about a doll possessed by evil creeps me out. But anyway this is another good Ghost Hunt. You like getting scared you will!!

My friend told me about this and i'm so glad that i gave it a try! the series starts with Mai and two of her friends telling ghost stories in the school. while they were telling stories a mysterious boy name Kazuya Shibuya (who mai nick named 'naru') appears. Through some circumstances Mai ends up as a part timer assistant at Naru's psychic research centre which specializes in ghost hunting. The first episode introduces all of the main characters. Such as: *John Brown - an exorcist from Australia. *Ayako Matsuzaki - a self-styled priestess. *Houshou Takigawa - a part time monk. His real profession is a bass player. *Masako - a celebrity psychic, whom senses spirits. *Koujo Lin - Kazuya's assistant, his powers include exorcism and spirit summoning. The series shows the crew going to places that they are called to, to hunt spirts. I like it beccause it has suspence and comedy. Theres a story behind their cases and it always keeps you wanting more and thinking..'why is that house haunted by the spirit?' or 'whats going on?' etc. I especially think it's funny when Mai gets jealous of Masako being with Naru or the fantasies she has about naru LOL There's actually a lot of unexplained things in this series like... why is Mai having dreams/premonitions of the cases with Naru in it? or SPOILER why didn't Naru tell the crew that he is actually a very powerful psychic? END OF SPOILER so much things left unanswered. But, i'm hoping there's a second season, because this series is too good to not have one! GIVE IT A TRY! IT'S REALLY GOOD! i really recommend this to people who like watching stuff like CSI. Last updated Thursday, January 10 2008. Created Monday, January 07 2008. |
