Unevaluated aoneish [series:1361#1615]
Perhaps because I was expecting this series to be serious and dark and even angsty if not dramatic, but this series is terrible...so far.

Character designs are weird. Setting and direction unorthodox and very unpredictable. The OP’s just…??? The EP’s somewhat better.

I don’t know what to make of this series. It LOOKED like a bad ass series, but it’s anything but. I can see this being dubbed for Saturday morning cartoons, although, I don’t know about the frequent fanservice pantsu stuff. But anyway, this series really confuses me. It’s a hybrid of so many things that it makes the series less than mediocre. And the 3-d animation? Oi, just really really not tasteful. This series could have been so much more, but instead it’s reduced to this…silliness. Is it a parody? Is that it? I don’t know. I’m confused.

Sometimes I feel like I’m watching power rangers (or super sentai). Sometimes I feel like I’m watching pokemon even. I don’t know. This series is just so…silly. it's not funny, it's silly.

It’s based on a fictional..world I guess, created by H. P. Lovecraft called Cthulu Mythos, but the only reason I know this is because at the end of each episode there’s tons of text that gives us the basis for characters and robots and whatnot. Whether this is only in the Shinsen-subs version or all other versions I don’t know. But this is the only place we get this information because none of it’s mentioned in the series. There’s hardly anything explained in the series. Things just…happen.

Anyway, as I've deleted this series to make space for better things, I won't be able to finish reviewing, but based on what I've seen so far, the first 5/12 episodes, I wouldn't recommend this.

Watch Jan-Chan [series:1361#967]
This is very different from the earlier OVA episode, but its worth a quick watch if you enjoy stories which mix dark magical arts with giant mecha action. Tis best to have read HP Lovecraft's Call of the Cthulhu if you want to get the most out of the fictitious, obscure and bizarre references in this series (and be certain to get a hold of Shinsen's subs).

The villains are really bad .. not good bad, but just really funky. They all appear to be walk-ons from the 1960's Batman TV series (kinda like the weirdos from from Steam Detectives.) But it somehow fits in the overall weirdness that infects this series.

I posted some snaps and an episode summary.
