With You ~Mitsumeteitai~
I wonder if this show has been redone, because the quality of the animation I've been watching seems more appropriate to 1990 than 2000. Images frequently seem out of focus, the frame rate seems low, and in general the quality of the animation leaves something to be desired. The plot could have been better as well; something about the "Stone of Hesitation", childhood friends being reunited as potential lovers, etc, etc. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me and I frankly cannot say exactly what happened (as is all too often the case). I thought maybe Manami and Masaki would turn out to be the reincarnations of the two lovers from the legend, but I was wrong. During the first episode the subtitles claim that the mysterious pendant was acquired in Yemen, which is absurd given the architecture and landscapes that are displayed early on; during the second episode the place of origin is ammended to Myanmar (Burma). The mysterious magical girl from another land theme reminded me of Tattoon Master. I'm surprised it wasn't until near the end of the first episode that she showed up--basically, half the series is taken to introduce the premise. The one surprise that sticks in my mind would be the "evil Manami". Despite it's origins as an H-game, the most ecchi it gets is when Manami's shirt gets torn off, exposing her bra--I don't think it even qualifies for the keyword "fanservice".
