Current Favorites List - Chapter 2

Current guidelines ...

• The intent is to provide an easy click space for visitors to access new series (or titles).
• Titles must be currently airing in Japan (or the pacific rim) or being fansubbed.
• Once licensed, the title should be removed from the list.
• Once a title completes airing overseas and being fansubbed, it should be removed within a week.
• Titles shall be decided by popular vote as presented and discussed in the forum.
• If two senior reviewers are in agreement, then a title can be added.

• Titles on the list MUST have three+ posted reviews.
• Any 2008 title should be eligible for this list.

Proposal for additions, deletions and suggestions to the list.

R1 - Remove Macross Frontier - series concluded
R2 - Remove Detroit Metal City (TV) - series aired, ongoing fansubbing uncertain - too extreme
R3 - Remove Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu - series concluded
R4 - Remove Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo - series concluded
R5 - Remove Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch Season 2 - series concluded
R6 - Remove Zettai Karen Children - series not very popular

A1 - Add Kurogane no Linebarrels - new series, mecha story
A2 - Add Toradora! - new series, tsundere loli romance
A3 - Add Kannagi - new series, silly high school magic-girl
A4 - Add To Aru Majutsu no Index - new series, magic-girl adventure story
A5 - Add Kemeko Deluxe! - new series, a really weird mecha gun-girl romance
A6 - Add Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka (TV) - new series, silly high school fated-fiance romance
A7 - Add Clannad: After Story - new series, certain to be popular especially after the Clannad series

But I am also looking forward to the following new series -

N1 - very interested in Yozakura Quartet
N2 - very interested in Macademi Wasshoi!
N3 - very interested in Shikabane Hime: Aka ( or not, depending on how the story goes)
N4 - very interested in Kyou no Go no Ni (2008)
N5 - very interested in Kurozuka

But there appears to be more than 10 (or so) titles on this list - Sigh ... Comments and opinions? Lets hear what you have to say (and feel free to use the N1/A3 reference #s) .

I guess all the "remove" suggestions make sense. But I've only seen two new Fall series yet and neither episode particularly thrilled me.

Move N2 To the top of the list and remove slayers. Slayers will NOT be back for at least a season. N4 was a big disappointment.

Ok, I have (tried to) hear(d) from everyone.... and I am trying to listen very carefully.....

My strong vote, along with Forbin's comment has N2 at the top of the list.
Our opinions (Forbin and mine) put To Aru Majutsu no Index at #2 (for the moment)...
4 reviews for Toradora! has earned this title a place on the slot.
And I added Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka (TV) based on personal/popular preferences.

And everything else just kinda fell in place.,.....

And hey!! I think that I kinda liked the first episode of Kuroshitsuji .. but..... What do you think????

And Slayers will probably not get taken off of the list because both ANB and I are avid/rabid fans of this series.

Hummm ... try ....PG2 ... I use it and I DID detect a BayTSP scan and I DID NOT get one of their DCMA love notices.....

I suggest R6 to be replaced with A7. Also, to remind Rebecca to place this list at the top of the screen and push the others down one (leave stats at the top though).

As for the Requested or suggested guidelines....

Titles on the list MUST have three+ posted reviews. - bad idea

because of the whole "people usually don't voice their opinions" issue.

Any 2008 title should be eligible for this list. - good idea

as some of the older 2008 titles probably won't be beaten by 2009, so they still deserve a chance to be on the list.

Some examples of older animes that i've seen which still can't be beat for 2008: True Tears, Sekirei, Code Geass Hangyaku no Lelouch Season 2, and last but certainly not least - the masterpiece H2O: Footprints in the Sand.

Stretch and Bitem_e both chimed in favorably on Casshern Sins, so I felt that I had to bump Soul Eater off the list ...

And the next one that will get bounced will be one of my favs ... Kara no Kyoukai ....

I will be watching your reviews (and postings) to see what the next hot fav title will be and will amend the CURRENT FAV list accordingly ..... Kuroshitsuji perhaps? Or even Kurozuka?? Or maybe Ga-Rei: Zero?

The CURRENT FAV list has 12 titles, but given the exceptional number of new titles that are circulating at the moment, I feel that it is appropriate to exceed the recommended 10-count limit.

Pls feel free to share any comments or opinions....

Give them one more week to stabilize JC. Remember most shows just started. Though I think Hyakko is going to have a spot. It's like an Azumanga with the hyper girl in charge.

Remove slayers since it won't be back for a season.

Thanks for taking note of my (and Bitem_e's) opinions. I am pleasantly surprised by the wealth of neat shows this fall. For the first time, I've been trying to watch at least one episode of each which might have the slightest chance of appealing to me. So far only Tales of the Abyss seems so mediocre that I'm tempted to drop it from my viewing schedule. Where will I find the time...?

I don't know if this is the case with everyone, but on my screen the titles on Current Favorites, Most Reviewed, etc, are now in such a tiny size that I almost need a magnifying glass to read them.

It's been like that for a while now. There was a post about it from Rebecca somewhere in here, I don't remember. The lists doesn't even appear on the What's new page anymore. It's on any other page though.

Nope, didn't consciously change their size. The do seem a bit small, I'll take a look into it...

Some changes could be made I believe since it seems that nobody is watching a hand full of those titles...

No recent updates (within months) for senior reviewers and could be removed:

R1: To Aru Majutsu no Index
R2: Macademi Wasshoi!
R3: Bounen no Zamudo
R4: Kurozuka - It seems i'm the only one still watching this (recent updates)...

Some great additions with constant updates from us:

A1: Chaos;Head - 3 reviewers fairly up to date with eps...
A2: Hyakko - 2 reviewers fairly up to date with eps...
A3: Rosario + Vampire Capu2 - 2 reviewers fairly up to date with eps...

I'm aware that not all us can have time to update but the remove titles have been dead for a while now...

Agreements? Disagreements?

Actually I'm still watching Index and Macdemia. Index is good and Wasshoi is just plain over the top in a Maid guy way.

Chaos head is my #1 at this time and I want more and more Hyakko but the subbers are slow.

That's cool. I agree with you on the Chaos head and Hyakko comment times 1000. LOL ^_^

I would suggest that we take off LineBarrels ....

Is anyone really following - Casshern Sins?

Lets keep in mind that come the end of December/beginning of January ... a number of titles will be retired and new titles will be added ... so the list will have to change ....

We could always just wait until then .....

Is that a done deal for R3 to A1 then?

We got Stretch for Casshern Sins and LineBarrels. Let's wait for his thoughts with those titles...

As long as the main 4 (Toradora!, Clannad: After Story, Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka and Kannagi) get to stay until there finished, I don't mind waiting but I would like to see some better title additions (more active list, if you will) like A1 (at the very least) for this last month of the year. No big rush on A2 and A3.

We're really going to run out of room when January comes around... LOL

Akane has been a bit of a disappointment. As all of them know, I LOVE harems, but this one didn't really click with me.

I lost interest in Index pretty quickly (partly because the fansubs were slow, if I remember correctly) but I am saving the episodes to possibly watch some day. The last time I checked (long ago) only the first episode of Macademi Wasshoi was available--where have you people been getting it from? I never started watching Xam'd and have become disillusioned with Kurozuka (very violent without a particularly interesting plot).

Same here! Chaos;Head should definitely be added.

I'm still watching Casshern Sins (my last update was Dec. 9) but I have been getting frustrated with it as the plot is moving very slowly. Also, I'm still watching Linebarrels but I know this will never be widely popular and I wouldn't mind if it were removed. But Akane-iro is one of my favorites and please don't remove it.

Basically, I agree with Xenoknight's recommendations for changes.

Consensus is a beautiful thing...

Edit: Notice how the font returned to normal after I made the change. There were some extra symbols (< and >) in there so I cleaned it up. I wonder if a similar issue lies with the rest of them. We can't edit those so it's up to Rebecca. Also, can we get the list to the top of the page please...

Yes 10 is good, but now I'm getting Shuffle / Da Capo vibes. Too bad the other episodes weren't as good as 10.

BTW did you notice that the Dad gets into the SAME situations as Jun in each episode? Last one he was defusing a bomb which goes off and Jun is supposed to solve the Minato / Yuuhi situation which ends in Minato making her move. (BOOM!)

Kannagi should be removed from the list since the series is over, right?

Same for Chaos;Head, Kemeko DX, and Kurozuka--except that we don't have anything to replace them with, since Winter season shows have barely begun to appear and it's too soon to declare any of them as "favorites".

I agree with Stretch but I can bet with due time that Akikan! will replace Kemeko DX (wacky funny to wacky funny). We need another action title to eventually replace Kurozuka.

My vote is for Rideback and (perhaps) Akikan ...

A6 and A7 are a definite YES (we all know Akikan will be there eventually). A2 is almost over so that wouldn't help to well. A4 needs more reviewers (I don't think I will pick it up personally). Where the hell did A5 come from?!?!?! Sunrise huh?...

I suggest:

R1 to A6
R2 to A7

We have got to make room for A5 soon... Maybe switch A7 request for A5 once we get two more reviewers.

I would very much enjoy watching Slayers E-R, but it appears as if no fansub group has picked up on it yet.

Kemeko and Chaos;Head should probably be removed since they are complete and off the air. I wouldn't mind if Linebarrels, Casshern Sins and Soul Eater were removed since my interest in all three has lessened somewhat.

Hyakko is done too so that's off the list.

Akikan I like, it's very perverted but funny - That should replace Macademi

I am surprised Chrome Shell Regios isn't here, that is a good Chaos Head replacement.

White Album, I'm still on the fence. I keep feeling like we have another School Days. And this dude's harem just increased to 5 (if you count the loli).

To Forbin: If it does turn out to be another School Days, then that should be good news I would think. We haven't had an anime that twisted in a while. Besides, it's still early and things are already getting crazy in White Album so we can bet that it will a "jaw-dropper" soon enough.
