Dual Parallel to check out for a final look at their favorite characters from the show if it hooked them. Other than some harem antics that Kazuki puts up with and the surprising return of a certain mecha, there isn't much else to be found in this special as you don't get to learn of anything new with any plot elements or characters here. Unless you're a huge Dual Parallel fan, you'll likely only be seeing this once.

Im unsure as to what the purpose of this OAV was. While it was nice to see the gang from the original Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure, the story was so weak as to make me wonder what Kajishima-san was thinking. Granted at the end of episode 13, something was happening in the ocean which left the door open for a possible sequel. Unfortunately, when they opened that door, they found a brick wall. Apparently when the world was reset, the Rara folks, minus Mitsuki, were all put back together, this despite the fact that the 3 pilot girls and their supervisor were all captured by the good guys in the original series and had basically switched sides (though they were relegated to the kitchen). Now those girls are back with the Rara gang. Why? I guess to get their Mitsuki with Kazuki. And despite seeing what happened with the artifact technology in the first series, the second it appears the technology still exists, Ayuko is back to scheming and plotting her way back to power. Upon my second viewing, I suppose this was mostly for humor, but then again maybe not. And what the heck was up with this lets go into space crap? Since no one actually went into space, one wonders if maybe this was supposed to be the launching ground for a new Dual! series. Considering the hack job this OAV got, it is not surprising that no sequel series was ever launched. At the end, Kazuzi's harem all wear the Rara army garb after Genmu returns and declair this region to be Rara territory. What? At first I didn't recognize them and thought it was the original Rara girls. Again, I guess this is supposed to be funny, but I didn't laugh. Bottom line: a disappointment and a letdown from the original series. Fans of the original series will want to check this out for themselves just to check it out as will fans of Kajishima-san's works. Otherwise, watch something else. 17 Sept 2003Last updated Wednesday, September 17 2003. Created Monday, September 15 2003. |
