Takeru Kamishiro was a salaryman who worked at a gruelling job and wished for something different. And, lo and behold, his wish was granted: he found himself in the presence of a God-like person who worked in the 'Middle Management of the Universe', was informed that he had died, and was offered a new job. He would be on the troublesome planet Madeus, and was told that like the dropping of a bead into still water, his appearance would set waves in motion that would have widespread and monumental consequences. He was equipped with 'extreme magical potential', a wide array of devices, and was promised a cute partner. He would be operating as a 'gatherer', someone who collects valuable items. With little alternative choice Takeru accepts the position, but his God-manager can't help feeling that he has forgotten something.

About the only novel element of this show is that Takeru is a humble 'Gatherer'--not exactly the specialty that one would expect would make waves across an entire planet. He has all sorts of cheat skills and special equipment to make his job easy, including the usual extraordinary magical ability (his 'Clean' spell is especially useful). Takeru's 'cute partner' soon appears, and he wishes he had made what he really wanted more clear. What he gets is Bee, a newborn Dragon whose parent places him/her in Takeru's care. Without a penny, Takeru gets to work gathering valuable things, everything from medicinal herbs to 'Hammer Anteater Droppings'. In general this struck me as a simple, unambitious premise; there was nothing really unusual that made me sit up and take notice. The jokes were so-so and I wasn't left with any questions that I wanted answers to. Perhaps the problem is that Takeru hasn't been given much of a personality--about all we know about him at the end of the episode is that he didn't like his previous job--so I can't care all that much what becomes of him. However, I suppose I will watch another episode, since it is my precious isekai after all.
In episode two Takeru and Bee leave the cave and head for the next town on the nearby road (and we get an idea of what Bee is already capable of). They meet a family traveling by wagon to the same destination and are given a lift. But nothing really struck me as interesting. I feel I hardly know Takeru and Bee seems almost as annoying as cute. If I were to summarize the tone of this show in one word, that word would be silly--not intriguing, or exciting, or seriously funny, just silly.
